How's about a report? Did you make it to the meeting? -
I didn't because I did not get home from work till 8. I believe Neene went. Perhaps she will enlighten us.

Cosgrove wasn't able to make it either
but the report from the precinct is that a form of a beat cop/community policing program is in place and slated to begin
(i for one applaud that)
we had a great turnout from our elected officials who all spoke
(mondays, many of them are usually in albany)
Assemblyman Karim Camara (and i am totally po'd that i missed his state of the district address a week or so ago, he is someone who is working really hard and has a ton of energy and ideas)
Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries
Council Member Albert Vann
State Senator Eric Adams
there was a lot of information on the fight to reinstate the drastic borough wide budget cuts for healthcare (which one way or another effect ALL of us)
and issues of gentrification were addressed: particularily developers getting subsidies for building and then NOT providing appropriate affordable housing
and the church put out a beautiful spread of food
again, like the community board meetings, the precinct council meetings serve to keep the community informed, they do not only address policing issues.
they can be long
and a bit tedious
but we are a large and diverse community and everyone's needs have to be met
i go not only for information but because it keeps me connected to where i have moved to and i feel that is important -

Thanks, Neene. I agree, CB 8 meetings and Pct. Community Council meetings are a necessary evil.
