This police report is interesting because it highlights something that I learned on my block. The people that are involved in a lot of this stuff do not live where they hang out. In many cases they do not even live in the neighborhood.
-
well, I hate to think that they are traveling all the way to Franklin to do their business... I figured it was an old address.
-
I don't know, we have a number of teens that hang out on our block, many of whom are girls with small children. When we asked the people who live in the building where they congregate about them, we were told that the girls live in East NY and Flatbush and come to the building to visit friends.
They hang out to 2 or 3am with their kids (some of whom are still in strollers) and then go home. During the summer its a regular thing. Considering the amount of time they spend on the block it was pretty shocking to know that they actually travel to come sit on the stoop for hours. -

people certainly travel all the way here to BUY their drugs; I don't see why folks wouldn't travel to sell.... -
I spoke this morning again to Det. McLean (who is the best, really) and she said:
They caught the shooter who killed Kevin.
Police believe the shooting was a dispute over turf for selling drugs, an element coming in who wanted to sell in that area.
Police are "definitely" going to increase manpower on Franklin.
The drug element on Franklin had before this slowed down "a great deal," and this latest, the detective believes, is a temporary run of activity, but "Franklin Avenue is going to get better."
What residents can do is "be eyes and ears and call 911 if you see or hear anything. Don't hesitate to call, and give as much information as you can, and call again if you don't see the police come. You don't have to give your name. If you see something going on on Franklin that you don't want happening in your neighborhood, call. And evidently there are a lot of guns out there on the street, so if you hear shooting, call and that can eliminate one more gun from the street."
Hope this helps. -
Great info Masha99.
