north side of myrtle ave between clermont and adelphi — Brooklynian

north side of myrtle ave between clermont and adelphi

There are three signs on the north side of myrtle ave between adelphi and clermont. the one closest to clermont says "no parking, temporary construction regulation" and it points towards adelphi. the one in the middle says the same thing and it points towards both clermont and adelphi. The one at the end says something like "no parking 8am-9am, except sundays". I parked for ten minutes around 5:30pm on tuesday closer to the "8am-9am" sign (near adelphi) and got a $60 ticket. My problem is that the temporary construction signs have a beginning boundary but it doesn't have an ending boundary. I think this is either a mistake or a parking ticket scam. I contested it today (and brought lots of photos with me) but the judge said that the 8am-9am sign was probably for cars parked on adelphi and not myrtle. This makes no sense because there are several signs along that stretch of myrtle ave that also reads no parking 8am-9am, except sundays. So it definitely was for the cars parked along myrtle near adelphi. The judge also said that I could afford to pay the ticket because I have a car (???).
Has anyone gotten a ticket or knows of someone who've gotten a ticket along this stretch recently? I think it's either a mistake on the signage or a way of meeting parking ticket quotas. Take a look the next time that you walk by and, whatever, you do, don't park on the north side of myrtle btwn clermont and adelphi.

  • One more thing. The signs along adelphi reads something like "no parking 1pm - 2pm Tues, Fri" and "no parking 1pm - 2pm Mon, Thurs". So the 8am-9am sign was definitely a myrtle ave sign. but the judge wouldn't hear of it. It's so unfair. the signs are ambiguous. and $60 is a lot of moulah (for me). I have an old, battered car that needs a lot of work; can't afford to fix it properly; but it seems every time I turn around the city is pulling money out of my wallet. and I can't sell my car because I work all the way out in staten island. it would take me literally two hours to get to work if I took the bus (as the mean-spirited, crow-looking, judge recommended).

    what to do.
