Looking for a gentle oral surgeon
Hello, I unfortunately need some dental work. My regular dentist has an affiliate oral surgeon who does not take my insurance. I have MetLife dental insurance and am desperate to find a dentist who accepts MetLife and will do the necessary work, gently. I obviously have a mild fear of dentists and am a self-admitted baby when it comes to this stuff. Park Slope or mid-town Manhattan location preferred.

I highly recommend Todd Berman, in midtown.

He did a very tricky implant of one of my top front teeth, and it turned out beautifully. I felt virtually no postoperative pain, even though he had to perform multiple operations. His staff was also very kind and compassionate. I don't know whether he accepts MetLife, though. -
Here's another very useful source with reviews of Dr. Berman and about a zillion other local dentists:

You have to contribute a review (or pay) to get full access, but I've found it well worth the trouble. -
I highly recommend Dr. Baker, he is on Union St. between 6th and 7th. I had a wisdom tooth pulled from him and being such a baby that I am insisted on laughing gas even before the novocaine, he abided my wishes and it was done so quickly and gently that I was shocked he was complete. My boyfriend has also had much more invasive work done by him and had a great experience. Here is his website and looks like he takes metlife: http://www.parkslopeoralsurgery.com/default.asp

I have used other dentists in this practice.. Dr. Chionchio, specifically.. Just terrific.
One member of the practice is a woman.. can't remember her name right now... but also exceptionally skilled, caring a gentle. -
Sounds like an oxymoron

I also used Park Slope Oral Surgery for a wisdom tooth. It was all impacted and so they had to saw it and break it into chunks to get it out, also, my insurance would only pay for Novocain and I typically hate the dentist, but they did a GREAT job. I actually kind of enjoyed it (and I'm far from being a masochist).
So, in short, I do recommend them.sjknoll wrote: I highly recommend Dr. Baker, he is on Union St. between 6th and 7th. Hey, not for nothing, but, did you know that the MetLife web site has a section where you can find a dentist that accepts your health care plan? Doesn't that sound a little easier?

Does he take Guardian insurance? Damn or am I Oxford, shoot I can't remember whats for what. New job and all. -
I have of course checked the MetLife website, but I would much rather go to a dentist that someone else recommends, than to just blindly choose one based on how close they are to my office/my home.

Me too! Much better than looking at a list and just picking one.
My dentist is too far to recommend.
Howdy, Stranger!
