Want to know what an old building looks like now? — Brooklynian

Want to know what an old building looks like now?

Give me an address in and around the PH/CH area and I'll try to take a picture for you. I take my dogs on long walks on my days off. Here's the boundaries we've hit so far (starting at Franklin and Bergen).

Albany Ave between EP and Atlantic Ave
Bedford Ave and Crown Street
6th Ave and Flatbush
Lafayette Ave between Bedford and St. James Place

And pretty much everywhere in between. And since I work in PS I can take pictures on my way to work. I'm rarely past 7th and 1st Street now though, since work is on 7th between Garfield and Carroll.

So let me know an address or block and I'll try to get a picture for you. :)

  • Great idea, thanks for starting this thread!
  • Thanks! I just wish people would take me up on this offer, there's only so much aimless wandering I can do!

C'mon guys, tell me what you want to see!
  • There are 3 huge mansion houses in a row on the south side of Prospect Place between Nostrand and New York Ave

They are unattached on large lots

I have always been in love with them

Photo-Op may be better when all leaves are off the trees.

I may have a picture of those, I just have to sort through a whole lot of pics. I've taken over a thousand photos of CH and the surrounding areas since last November. I got a little camera happy. :D I'll post it if I took it and find it.
  • Thanks

I think it was the center house that was used in the filming of the remake of the movie SHAFT
  • Great offering Caseopele :)

If you ever stroll down to Midwood, Brooklyn, lemme know.. I think that's a looong walk though

That may be a teeny bit too far for my 12 year old dog to walk. Of course, I won't be taking pictures of anything right now since my camera mysteriously broke on Thanksgiving. It was wrapped in a sock at the bottom of my bag on the cabinet yet it looked like a gremlin used a tiny hammer on the battery cover.

Did you ever get a chance to look?
  • Hey, I went through all my pictures today and sorted them, no easy task with almost 1500! There are still a lot that I have to figure out where I took them but I got an organizing bug today and had to take advantage. Please remind me if I don't post a picture during the next few days. I may not have pics of the houses you mentioned but I have one that's possible. Plus I have to go through my Unknown folder, eek!
  • Ok, I don't think I have pics of the houses you wanted to see. I did find a few free standing houses but I'm not sure where they are.

This one may be on Prospect Place

    P.S. How are you doing?
  • Okay, I can help with the location of a bunch of these

    1) New York Avenue at Atlantic
    2) don't know
    3) New York at Park
    4) Park closest to Brooklyn
    5) Same as above (they are actually next door to one another)
    6) House #4 from a different angle
    7) don't know
    #8 don't know
    9) don't know
    10) Prospect closer to Nostrand (one of the 3 free standing houses referenced in the earlier post)
  • Thanks! I took so many pictures and didn't make any note of where I took them. I should post a bunch and see if anyone knows where the heck they are!
  • Terrific pics!
