Walk from subway-36th street and 4th avenue
I am considering moving to an apartment around 40th street and 6th avenue. The area seems very safe, however, I was wondering what it is like at night. It seems like the area would be mostly deserted. I would regularly be arriving home around 11 pm. I am planning on checking it out at night, but if anyone could provide some insight, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

The Fifth Ave strip is lively at 11pm!
I don't live there - and when I go there it's by bus/bike/car - but I have a couple of friends in that area, and I find it very easy-going. Of course the best way to check out a new place is to make the visit yourself, at the hour you're interested in (even when it's a pain)
Do your recon hungry, and grab a taco at Matamoros . . .
it'd be great to be on the express stop -
My wife and I live on 40th Street and 7th Avenue and often walk up the hill at all hours from the 36th Street station without concerns for our safety.
