Ha! Funny stuff there! Assuming of course that this is a joke...
I don't think it is a joke. Did you watch the 60 minutes story on this? One of the people interviewed mentioned that music used to reflect what was happening on the street but now it is driving what is going on. There's been a shift.

Well then, rap songs are NOT the reason that black men are harrassed by police, and every society has most certainly NOT always looked favorably on people who snitch. Snitches have always been looked down upon in at least the last hundred years in America. It has nothing to do with rap music. Which is not to say that rap music is not promoting it, just that it is wrong to state that rap music has caused it and it wasn't like that before. Think back to the prohibition, check some old movies out from the library. Gangster times, corrupt unions, snitches have always been a problem, good or bad. The classic On The Waterfront comes immediately to mind.
People that cooperate with the authorities have a history of being shunned, long before rap music was around. Having said that, I think there is a balance in here. I believe that supporting gestapo black booted thought police is asinine. But I also think that reducing and eliminating street crime is a good thing that the police _should_ be doing, and that assistance to that end is a good thing. Without going overboard and encouraging children to rat out their parents and whatnot. -
agreed. CNN is the CNN of the ghetto.
