Nostrand Avenue and NYT — Brooklynian

Nostrand Avenue and NYT

Presumably every CH res has read or heard about the NYT piece on the Landmarking of part of our fab hood. (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/24/nyregion/24journal.html?_r=1&oref=slogin) They talk about what's happening on Nostrand Ave...just a question, but what do folks (both newbies, old heads like myself, and wannabe's ) want along the avenue? And please keep the thoughts on the positive side (I see vacant spaces along the Avenue - so this is not about moving the long time stores out...but rather what would mix well with the old that is there now). Enquiring minds want to know....

  • I want a sit down restaurant , affordable Thai or Mexican or wine bar or coffee shop

(also there was already a post about this article right below yours)
  • A strip joint that serves soy milk.
  • You're more likely to find a strip joint that serves breast milk.
  • I would like to see some type of dance/exercise studio. I live in Clinton Hill right now and there is a dance studio Embora, that I really enjoy. They have a variety of classes throughout the week -- from yoga, to belly dance, salsa, to capeiora, etc. I'll be moving to Crown Heights next month, and I will definitely miss that place.

I'd prefer one that serves only the finest of Cambodian breast milks.
