A/C Train between Hoyt Nostrand
It seems as though every morning there are congestion issues btw Hoyt & Nostrand. Will the construction (or whatever is causing the train to not run on weekends) - improve that after 2 wks or whenever they plan on finishing.
This constant delay in the morning is soooo annoying.
Also the fact I was stuck in the train for 1hr 1/2 last monday is even more disappointing. I guess someone on the 8.10 train out of Nostrand pulled the brakes.. MTA couldnt recharge. We had to back out of Lafayette and get off at Nostrand ..then take A (which was running local) Uptown again.
How long has this been going on..bc I wasnt taking this train before 2 months ago.
Please explain.

I was just going to bring this up today. I'm SO SICK of it, too. I moved to a C-train area (Lafayette stop) in November, and I think it's been this bad for about 2-3 months now. I'm not sure if it's related to the construction, but I wouldn't be surprised.
It's such a letdown to be "racing" with an A train in the tunnel before Hoyt-Schermerhorn, only to see the A train cross in front of your C...every single morning. -
Subject: Issues
I think it depends on what time you get on the train. I find that if I get onto the C train on the Clinton / Washington stop between 8:30 and 9:00 the trains are really backed up from the earlier commute. So if you go earlier, say 8:00, you're less likely to encounter problems. Or if you go later, same thing. It looks like the MTA has designed the system to get people to work by 9:00. But if you work at 9:30 / 10:00, then you have to deal with the aftermath of the morning commmute.
Plus the construction certainly does play a role as sometimes the C will be rerouted along the F lines. Not to mention that someone gets sick on the train at least once a week which screws everything up. And with the train just not running on the weekend, it makes you want to ride a bike or buy a car. -
The A/C is killing me right now. For the past 2-3 months it's been so herky-jerky in the morning.

Damn that stalled train sucked, didn't it? at least you got to back up to nostrand- i was on the train directly behind the stalled one- after 2 hours of sitting there, they finally decided to use our train to push the stalled one to hoyt. then they made us all get off of our train at hoyt as well, and didn't have any clue when any service would start again. i ended up just walking to jay street and hopping the f.
every day since then there has been some sort of delay- yesterday was 15 minutes sitting at franklin, watching all the c trains go by.
the a has gotten progressively worse over the last few months i've noticed. since i get on at nostrand, i usually just take whichever comes first, a or c.
hopefully once the construction is over, it'll clear up. -
F.Feelings, I usually get on the C at Lafayette around 8:30, but today I got on around 8:00 and we still had delays. I used to think it was just a logjam as well, but now I'm not so sure I can chalk it up to just mo' commuters, mo' problems.

basically there are delays all the time on the A/C its normally a sick passenger or signal problems...
but eveyday... conjestion...
crazy...
its annoying... I hope when all the construction is done... things will get better... -
My wife and kids were on that train last week...needless to say, everyone was late for school/work that day. The service years back was rated as one of the worst in the city...then the neighborhood started to change and more people who were living in Brooklyn were commuting to the city for work...this followed major improvements in the train service- the C-train in particular. it became rather reliable...so much so that I know if I got into the station at 8:07, I would be able to look down the tunnel and see the train I missed that came at 8:06 on-the-dot. Hopefully, this is just a short-lived disruption. It really used to be much worse. The past two days I've taken the train into the city in the AM and have experienced no problems with the C.
