Armed Bandits Rob Crown Heights Post Office
From today's Gothamist:
Early yesterday morning, three armed robbers stole thousands of dollars from a post office in Crown Heights. Postal workers who were sorting mail before opening hours were forced to lie on the floor as the manager was asked to open the safe at the James E. Davis Post Office at 315 Empire Boulevard. Since the post office is a government property, the robbery would be a federal offense; investigators are looking at the possibilities that it was an inside job or that the post office was being cased for a while (apparently the robbers entered the post office through a side door that has a combination lock).

Somehow, a crime like this makes me feel more unsafe about my
neighborhood than a simple mugging. I mean, this was right down
the block[/i] from the 71st Precinct for goodness sake.
Wonder if they ever found the culprits. Hope so -
Yeah I remember reading that they caught them, and it was an inside job.

it was a year ago. note the date of the first post. (i missed it at first too)

I remember when it happened. Just never had a forum to speak on it
before. I did not know they caught the people behind it though. Well
done 71st!! -

didn't mean to correct you, mase -- i wasn't on the board when this was first posted and was interested to read it myself.

i pointed out that it was a year ago because another poster had been confused -- but she must have figured it out and deleted her post while i was writing. whoops. that'll teach me to use quotes. -

Naw Sweet Tea, it's my fault. I have become so accustomed to being
attacked for my viewpoints on messageboards, that I have a built-in
defense mechanism and sometimes it has a hair trigger
I apologize. Keep on being you
