in line / roller blades — Brooklynian

in line / roller blades

Right now I am running between 2.5-5 miles a day and it is aggrivating the arthritis in my knees and hips. I think I am going to switch a few days a week to in line skating / roller blading during the summer months to give my knees a break, but I have never seriously shopped for skates. Most of the stuff online is outdated info about old models (apparently in line skates are sooooo 1996). Anyone have any suggestions on good brands (the asics/brooks of skates)? Also, if anyone specifically knows of a brand that might make me look like slightly less of a jack ass?

  • I really wanna try LandRollers - I think that they would be great getting to/from the park, over all of the uneven sidewalks and cracks... as far as looking like a jackass... well, they're not going to help matters.
  • These skates by Nike are pretty damn good lookin'.....something I'd sport.

Just wear pants that are wide enough on the bottom to cover the top part of the skates.

    Find them here : http://www.onlinesports.com/pages/I,NKE-1026667.html?cm_mmc=Nextag-_-Products-_-PPC-_-NKE-1026667

  • LOL - yeah, like I said, they're not going to help the 'lookin' like a jackass' part, but with that larger wheel diameter, they'll handle bumps, cracks and rough pavement better than the smaller-wheeled alternatives.

Are those an older model, though? I don't remember them being that ugly...
  • Nuh , I'm pretty sure ugly is the only model these things come in.

Maybe , just maybe , they designed a new model that hasn't been introduced yet?
(leans in ,whispering) super ugly :-$
  • once upon a time, i was on top of the cabin of a small boat, when a drunk man wearing those climbed up the ladder and began to swerve around.

and i thought of a college professor, who advised us that if we ever wanted to kill ourselves, we should do it in such a way that people would wonder, "Was she really that sad? Or was she just that stupid?"
