Subject: Freddy's V O'Connor's Softball
Freddy's V. O'Connor's Softball 2007Gladiators! The sporty grudge match is on. On Sunday May 6, O'Connors has officially accepted the Freddy's Bar challenge.
Freddy's still hold the trophy, the Size Tripple F Blue Bra, a bra so massive that it can be seen from space supporting the great pyramids. Allbeit, Freddy's won that last match because Bart broke his nose and the sun was starting to set, they still hold that bra high and proud and expressed all intentions of keeping it. O'connors has expressed revenge for Bart's nose and has sworn to bring younger, more able-bodied players.
Who? Freddy's Bar and O'Connors
When? Sunday May 6th, 4:00 PM
Where? Propect Park softball field, (diamond TBA)
Freddy's contact: Funny man, Pat Oshea
O'Connors contact: Kevin (Irish last name here)
Winner takes the bra, so break out the mits and get working on the trash talk folks! See you there.

TRIPPLE F BRA! Softballs! great combo! -
Subject: Game on!
Yep, large bra and softball, perfect together. Here are some hight lights from 2006.
Jim models the spoils of the game. Did you know bra is French for arm?
Pre-game trash talk! Freddy's mascots jeer "one ton tomato, you'll eat
a one ton tomato" to the tune of Guantanamera. You can see the
actual giant rotten tomato heads at Prospect Perk cafe.
Star player Megan (OCs) mocks Roger (Freddy's) by singing "Juan Guayabana".
Pat Oshea ponders, "Isn't Roger from Peru?"
NOTE:
- Guantanmera is a person from Guantanamo, Cuba
- Guayabana is a tropical fruit related to the paw paw
- Guayabera is a traditional Cuban man's shirt
- Guajira is a farmer
In the future we should just mock each other in English.
Half-time entertainment, the running of the mascots. This was
a great distraction to... (see below)
Ouch! So sorry Bart. BTW Barty D. is wil be opening his own bar, Sidecar
very soon. I can see a Sidecar V. Freddy's D&D match happening
very soon. -
freddy's = globetrotters
o'c's = washington stars -
Subject: The softball report
Ah softball, a sign of spring in Propsect Park second only to a hippie maypole gathering. Here's a quick game update. Bill C will have the full play by play up soon along with some action packed photos.
The game started out with some riveting trash talk. OCs presented a bar of soap to Freddy's team captain Pat Oshea, jeering "This is for washing out your f*****g p*****s with after we beat your asses!" This emoticon relays the approximate reactions . So in retaliation, Freddy's beat out OCs asses 25:5. Freddy's didn't run the mascots at half time, 25:5 was mockery enough.
Even on such a crisp blue-sky afternoon there were some minor injuries to report: A few skinned knees; Lex (Freddy's) smashed up a finger on his throwing hand; Kenny (OCs) took a pile drive to his pitching leg. Both teams met up at Freddy's for post game libation. The large blue bra was returned to its rightful place of holding. -
Additional injury report: DC both skinned knees and an elbow. Little brother Patrick had blood dripping from a knee at the end of the game. I think there were more... but between my pain of my own injured toe and the beer.. it is a blur.

it's another rebuilding year for o'connor's.
-
kw, ouch! Injuries abound. I thought that little guy Matt got hit in the mouth with a softball, but everyone says that just the way he talks.
I'm sure that only today are people realizing their post-game trauma. No glory without gore. LMK when you download those photos, I'll post 'em to the site.
Can't wait for Bill C's play-by-play. -
even though the final score was 25 to 5, it felt like a closer game. more like 25 to 6. a lot of the lopsided score was due to the freddy's team literally knocking out O'C's ace (and card-carrying AARP member) kenny. once O'C's was forced to use a pitcher who would occasionally put the ball occasionally within spitting distance of home plate it was just a matter of time. i did overhear one O'C's team member re-think their strategy. "We've got to catch the ball." Hear's hoping the next 5 year plan and great leap forward includes hitting.

In O'c's defense, they did manage to drink an awful lot of 8-ounce Buds.

Subject: INJURY UPDATE:
INJURY UPDATE:
Freddy's MVP Lex just called me with this shocking news. "That Yarn Guy, while catching that pile drive from Troy (OCs) I actually fractured my finger tip in three places." Mind you, we washed and wrapped his hand, he went back to the field, batted a few, and played outfield for the rest of the game. Then after the game he went on to band practice and the next morning the ER.
Lex announces that he'll be out for the rest of the season. What will Freddy's do? Can modern science factor into the next game? Will this grey cloud pass?
Post Note: Lex is now sporting a major cast and sling, he's most difinitely out for the season. Adrianne better start lifting some weights. -
I remember this. I believe my exact words on seeing his injury were. "You can still catch, right? Rub some dirt on it."
Still and all, the cast was very dramatic. -

Yes that is to be remembered... especially the way you yelled it from first base to our bench where he was icing the injury. It was tough love, no doubt. I can't believe he went back out there. What a trooper.
I'm still working on downloading all of the pictures. -
You'd never see a member of O'Connor's breaking something on the field and continuing to play, that's for sure.
Sweep the leg! -
the freddy's Performance Enhancement Specialist was a friend from the Boca Raton county club of the Freddy's team owner . In light of the high incidence of injuries at the game, he has been fired. We'll have to return to our traditional pill-shaped performance enchancement from the good people at Phizer corp.

where are the pictures?

Subject: Update
Keep your shirt on lady, KW just gave me a CD full of softball treasure (thanks KW). I have to edit them down and retouch some double chins. I should have them up tonight. In the meantime we don't have any photos of Lex's injury, so I created this sport reenactment using stuffed monekys (just like they do in court).
Not realizing the extent of Lex's injury Jim and Pat pressure Lex into returning to the field.
Poor Lex. He'll be sporting a full arm cast for three months. He fractured his right ring finger in three places.
Lex, we all wish you a speedier recovery. Hang int here. Softball is a cruel mistress. BTW, you can pick up your blue plush monkey puppet at Freddy's tonight. -

Wasn't there another game after the Great 25-5 massacre? Where's the highlights to that one? -

Good question Trizoy. Freddy's team captain Pat Oshea has reported that they were stolen! Or erased. Pick one, it's all good.
Here's a link to re-cap from June:
http://brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35762.
But in other softball news, former Freddy's MVP Lex Marsh is out of the game for the rest of the season while he nurses his injured finger. In an attempt to regain the large "Blue Bra" back from O'Connor's, a team of Freddy's scientists are trying to clone Lex proclaiming "Look OC's, we'll beat your sorry asses in about 33 years. Booya!".
Howdy, Stranger!
