You mind me asking what street?
  • My car died and my mom gave me her old minivan. So I started keeping all my clothes in the van and driving to work in shorts and changing in the parking lot. Things were going great until somebody stole all my clothes out of the van. That was last summer.
  • yeah, you can't leave anything in your car. that's really only an invitation to a break-in. it sucks to seem like i'm blaming the victims here, but you have to be proactive about doing every thing you can to make your car less of a target.

i am so paranoid about this, i turned into a shrieking harpy when my boyfriend left his blackberry in the cupholder at the jones beach parking lot. probably not a place for major breakins, but why would you risk it?
  • Williamsburg was the worst I've ever seen. From what I was told, the Russian Mafia hires the Polish kids to steal cars. I'd wake up in the morning, hit the street and it would be cleaned. All that would be left would be a mess of shattered glass all down the street from where they busted out the windows.
  • Do you have out-of-state plates?

    Carlton, Prospect Place.
  • this has happened to me three times over the past year. only one of those times was there anything in the car, and it was just a bag of dirty gym clothes. lucky for me they were company cars that had insurance (three different cars, all looked new with out of state plates), but it seems to be a problem in the area, specifically for me all three were on sterling between underhill and vanderbilt.
  • Sorry to sound like a nag, but.. Did anyone who had a car broken into file a report with the police?

Like I said before, if you didn't, the crime didn't happen.
  • Alex,
Can you elaborate on your housing status? After reading your post, I the impression that you were living out of your mothers car? I may have to refer you to Jerry. Notoriously known for housing in a caprice

I called them and they said I had to come down to the 77th to do anything. They wouldn't come to me.

No I live an apt, but I was keeping my work clothes in the van last summer so that I could drive to work in shorts and change in the parking lot :D No A/C in that thing. It is long gone by now, though.
