Ladies, be careful walking up the subway stairs — Brooklynian

Ladies, be careful walking up the subway stairs

edited November -1 in The Lounge / Random Stuff
Wednesday night I was walking up the stairs to exit the subway when I heard the sound of a camera shutter...but it appeard to be coming from underneath me. I turned around and some asshole was right behind me and had put his cameraphone under my skirt and taken a picture. The moron wasn't even smart enough to turn off the sound on his camera, otherwise I wouldn't have even noticed! I yelled at him, and he grinned and ran away (I couldn't chase--I was wearing heels). I was so disgusted and upset walking home, regretting not having punched him or grabbed his phone.

I told this story to one of my girlfriends and she said that there's a website where guys post these pictures and compete to see who can get the best shot. While the occasional photo of Paris Hilton flashing her junk is amusing, taking pictures of people who haven't consented is just vile and horrible.

So ladies, please be careful. With summer coming I'm guessing there will be more skirts and probably more perverts out there...

I know nothing about phones, not owning one, but I was under the impression that this sound exists and cannot be turned off precisely because of this unfortunate practice.

Probably a whole bunch of websites like that. And I thought the camera sound was locked on as well.

My old phone had the option but it was a first generation cameraphone. Good to know that's the case...not that it helps me much in this situation.
  • Eeew! I felt violated just reading about it.
    And Angry!!
If I could, I'd get that guy by the throat and pull some Sonny Chiba action out on him. Bastard.

Yeah, my instant reaction to that dude would have to be finger through the eyeball.
  • any guy caught putting a camera up my skirt is going to get a phone full of pee.

    fuckers!
  • Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone , but if it does , when you turn around kick that perv in the face , he will fall back , then go kick him in the nuts , and snatch his phone....that will teach him a lesson.

Don't be afraid just because he is a man.....you might think he is stronger , but if you are pissed off enough , you will be able to take him....trust me I have 3 brothers so I know from experience.
  • Trust me, I was angry at myself for NOT hitting him but then again, when you're by yourself, you never know what some guy is capable of doing if he's brazen enough to stick a camera under your skirt. Honestly, I was just more shocked than anything--I just froze up and could not believe that just happened.

I'd fight and not care if I get hit back , as long as I tried to defend myself, I'll be happy.....I have a bad temper , so he should be afraid of what I'm capable of.

Maybe ya'll should try wearing these leggings under your skirts.

  • Erikka don't worry, we were not implying anything. Simply venting anger at the A-Hole. Yeah, if I was alone and that happened I'd be in shock and incredulous of what just happened. I've had guy cop a feel while in pedestrian traffic and it took me a few seconds to realize WTF just happened, by then the jerk ran off. It's unexpected, so your not ready to whip out your heel-in-the-groin technique.
  • Hey, Erikka, what subway stop were you at?
  • Metropolitan Avenue (during rush hour, in front of a lot of people), but I saw it happen to another woman at Atlantic Avenue recently. I guess warm weather=more skirts. This bums me out because I just bought four new sundresses and a bunch of skirts--that's most of my wardrobe when it's nice out.
  • This is disgusting! I'm with Mamacita - let's fuck-up these a-holes!
  • thats just disgusting. hope someone catches pervs like that and give em a good ole beating.
  • Not that this is any consolation whatsoever, but at least these photos are of our lovely va-jay-jays only- no faces attached.
I can't wait for that to happen to me though- I'm working on the moves that EM26 describes.....I can. TOTALLY. do that- and I hope it happens when I'm good n' drunk. Heaven help that muhfucker.

Not that I want to give you ladies anything else to worry about, but my phone uses the standard verizon vcast software and turning the sound off does indeed kill the sound the camera makes. I'm pretty familiar with cell phone technology and had never heard that bit about the sound being turned off before. Sorry for your trouble Erikka.
