Anyone been in VIP - at corner of Nostrand and President?

Yes, stopped in a few weeks ago with my boyfriend hoping to get some food. But their kitchen isn't functioning yet. It's a big beautiful bar though - no customers though, at 8PM that evening.
The barkeep and owner (Black folks) were there, quite friendly, though we (White folks) really had to make the first move to start a chat. -
Went in there last night, have about the same to report. Big beautiful mostly empty bar. The kitchen is still not up, code problems. He said that it would be a week or two yet. Not that it matters, but I got the impression that I was talking to the owner, and he was not black. Although all other patrons of the establishment (2 of them!) were. Nice TV's on, decent setup. I would love to see some beers on ACTUAL FUCKING TAP at one of these nearby places, it is driving me nuts. Very friendly, beer selection slim, but cold, ready, and fairly cheap (charged me $3 for a Corona).

Was talking to a neighbor that lives on that side of EP and he says he's been in a couple of times. He had similar discriptions (friendly and empty) and said he actually wanted to start making it a regular hangout.

Confirmed... nice but empty. Stopped in to watch some baseball a few nights ago. It was a Friday and there were only about 8 people there.
Great spot to watch sports. -
Yeah, they have got nice big TV's, and with the general emptiness, you can actually even _hear_ them.

I got the same story about the kitchen. I'm dying because I want a simple place in the nabe for a burger or the like. Seem like it will be a nice place... someday. :?

Subject: Cheap drinks = Good times!
Plannig on hosting my birthday party there this weekend. Will report back about my experience. So far, seems like it will be a nice quiet event. The good thing about VIP so far is that there is no cost to host an event. They will give you a few tables for your party and will provide a cake. All they ask is for the host's guests to patronize the bar ~$25 per person. This is not bad considering that an amaretto sour is about $7 compared to the city at $11. At VIP, you can drink all night for under $30. -

Hi guys. I said I'd report back so here I am. My party was a BLAST!
It was hands down the best party of the year! Woo Hoo!!!
One employee, Brian, was amazing; he took care of everything
I asked for and provided me with services that I did not even
know I needed! I felt like a Very Important Person all night!
You should all use this place to host your next special occassion.
Tell them Candice & Randy sent you! It looks great inside,
the drinks were cheap. Only complaint is that it got a little
hot after a while but then again I had about 40 guests and we
were dancing our pants off.
V.I.P has me in a party mood and I don't even like to go out.
Even my fiance (who does not party and whom I've never
seen dance) danced all night. -
So when does the kitchen open?
Sorry to be a curmudgeon, but this neighborhood does not need another place that serves booze. You can go up and down Nostrand and find that. What we do need from VIP Bar and Grill is some grilling!
I'm tired of all these bar/restaurants that only make token gestures for serving food.
Howdy, Stranger!
