Are you sure? I think on the Park Slope Parents board the discussion said it was beign replaced by the Childrens Place. -
that's what the thread said - even named the bank (BofA maybe?). Maybe it's subdivided. I don't remember the details, but you can dig up the thread if interested

Flexichick is right - BofA it is

Not for sure, but being pretty average while charging shameless prices couldn't have helped. -
Too true! I really only went there when I was running errands nearby and didn't feel like making the schlepp down to C-Town. You'd think being one of the only groceries in the upper-south-Slope they'd have found a way to stay in business. They could have charged non-laughable prices and chased greater sales volume, or gave in and gone upscale enough to warrant their prices—you know, have decent produce instead of trying to charge $3 for a wrinkled orange bell pepper or $1 for 2 limes the size of golf balls.
In reality, they were probably too tied by the corporate structure to skew that D'Ag to it's neighborhood. I get the impression that C-Towns are run differently, that each is independently owned, making them easier to respond to it's neighborhood character. I didn't know that for a long time, and associated C-Town with depressing, down-market, bad-neighborhood supermarkets, when in fact Steve's C-Town does a pretty good job of serving the different facets of Park Slope. -
I do agree that the charm of C town is that they know who lives in the neighborhood. I have lived here long enough to have seen the incarnations of the that grocery store and all that came before were worse. Many names I don't remember but I remember when it was Met.. remember it cause I rarely shopped there though I live close by.

that really sucks. Where the hell am I gonna get my Hot Pockets now?

I'm not sad at all to see D'Ag go, that place was depressing. However, banks are the scourge of the modern retail street and the last thing we need is another one.

park slope has such a terrific sense of community. that's one of the things that makes it so special. is there not a way to band together and really try to improve the commercial situation on 7th avenue. it is getting to the point that i zone out completely till i get to 5th avenue even though i live right by 7th. we NEED a good, solid grocery store in the northern/central part of park slope. period. the food co-op, whole foods coming on 3rd and key food on 7th are not enough as one of these you must join to be a part of which excludes many, one is too far to walk and the other is simply not of very good quality.
while i'd love to have a trader joe's or something of that nature, we need a full service grocery store. i would even prefer a c town over the key food on 7th.
can we start taking back our neighborhood and do some things to limit more and more banks, and get in some things that would INCREASE the streetlife on 7th avenue. i actually would love for 7th avenue to be a destination till more lik 10pm or later and instead it seems to have moved to 8pm in the past few years and with a few more banks, is going to be more and more shuddered by 6pm.
this is unacceptable. one of the great qualities about park slope is it's european like culture with cafes, etc and having a street devoid of life after 8pm is not good for the neighborhood or our quality of life.
there are so many people in this neighborhood who would like to have and would support a good grocery store in this part of 7th avenue. surely there must be something we can do?
any suggestions other than the persistent emails i send to trader joe's? -
The D'ag's leaving is a good thing -
it will force me to go to C Town on 9th. It may be a further walk but C Town's ability to really get the community needs is something I support.
B/f and I would go to CTown after the gym but now that it is nice out and I am spending less time at the gym, I would be lazy and go to D'Ag. That place is horrible - I will not miss it or its tempting ways!!!
