okay, here's a comment on some inappropriate Park Slope uniforms. I neither validate or support the characterization of muffin tops.

I don't think that it adds anything to an already attractive derrière, but it can really invoke unpleasant mental images on an unattractive one... best to play it safe and avoid it altogether IMO.

I don't think anyone would nail Park Slope occupants as fashion minded. Who has time? Between the time it takes to commute in to Manhattan and parenting... I mean give me a break. I've noticed that more and more "hipsters" have found their way to the hood, offering a colorul array of jeans, tee shirts, sneakers, and hoodies and who live to bitch about the parents and kids that seem to crowd "their" streets. Then again, nothing beats a pair of jeans, a well cut tee shirt and a hoodie, and a couple of kids as accessories.
God I love this town. -
hang on a second. the Timeout piece on "Muffin Tops" is fantastic. I flippin' love it! perfect. thanks turtle95. then again. i only wish there were hipster mom's in park slope. too often i see mom's who look and act like, my mom. and then there's the park slope mom who thought/thinks they were/are cool or are just straight up, moms.

Park Slope females set a new low for unattractiveness with each passing year. Used to work at one of the busier 7th Ave coffee shops when I was in college, and could count on one hand the number of female customers who actually looked like they owned a mirror.
After being in Japan for a year I'm bracing myself for my return to the Land of No Makeup and Androgyny, aka Park Slope..

Restless Native, if we are so horrifying, perhaps you should consider staying where you are. Or finding some other makeuptastic location. -

I was actually imagining what Restless looked like as he critized the women of PS -
I plead guilty to the uniform. However, it's not intentional at all-- more out of necessity I think. In the past four years I've been either pregnant or trying to lose the baby weight. I have little clothing that fits well and I keep telling myself I'll get nice clothes once I wean the baby and lose the weight. The stuff I have that fits and is stylish is not the stuff I am wearing to walk my kids to the playground, sit on the edge of the sandbox, run around the grass after them, and plop my butt down on some dirty floor for a kiddie music class for. It just doesn't make sense
A few days ago I was feeling totally shlumpy though and put on something new and it did feel great. For about an hour. Then I realized that I kept leaning away from my baby because I didn't want him to get his messy hands all over my new clean shirt. Awww, the look on his face killed me. It's just not worth it. So back to the uniform.
By the way, I think someone needs to make onesies for adults. I like low-rise pants but not the whale tail. -

I would rather see the uniform of a Park Slope mom.. heavy in to the practicality of taking care of her own kids and the uniform of sloppy any day rather than the mom on her way to work in the suit, leaving her kids with the nanny.ot to go in to my whole life history but trust what I say or believe because I have been both those mommies. I guess my point is that the androgyny and lack of make up often means you are looking at a woman who is in a stage of life where through necessity the kids come first. -

I've seen pictures of my mother when I was a wee child back in the early Seventies, and she looked fabulous; like a Mary Tyler Moore sort, and she still does. I have a feeling most of these PS moms are gonna have sweatpants surgically attatched for the rest of their lives, new kids or not. -

They're all lesbians (see http://www.iheartbrooklyngirls.com/index.html), but since most of the people saying they look hot seem to be women, that's working out ok.
I actually think that skinny one is my 3rd floor neighbor (she has my old studio apt.; I'm on the ground foor 1BR for now—moving soon.) She's around 23–27, a photographer/grad student, and rather butch IRL, though at around 5'2" and skinny, it's sort of a "mini-butch". Nice woman, actually, just kind of stereotypically "Dyke Slope": speaking with her can be rather exhausting as she's functionally incapable of small talk and takes everything ultra-seriously. Permanently hyper-intense can get a little tiresome, and I'm a pretty wired sort of guy.
In other news: blah blah blah stroller mafia, blah blah blah muffin-top moms, blah blah blah lesbians, blah blah blah Food Co-op Birkenstock assholes....
