WTF $1,000+ Mutt?

My friend brought this to my attention:

Holeeee crap, people done gone and lost their minds. Anyhow, I smell opportunity, you guys gotta help me come up with a "breed" I can market.

Note: I have nothing against mutts at all. It's the $1,000 (plus!) that's vexing me here.

    Oh god, people are getting dumber by the day. Maybe I can interest them in a Shephound or Shepweiler? (Cheech is probably Shepherd and Greyhound and my dog growing up was a Shepherd/Rottie mix.) Seriously, there are tons of "designer breeds" at shelters and they're way less than $1000!

    Hmm, let's see: Cockeagle, Cockise, Papipoo, ok, I'm fresh out.

    Now that you mention it, the names for all these various mixes do seem way too cute ("Schnoodle"? Gimmie a break.) - although I'll admit that it is more fun to say "Labradoodle" instead of "Labrador retriever/poodle mix".
