Subject: Assault on St Mark's

Anyone know anything about the assault in front of the playground between Underhill and Vanderbilt about 9:30 am? I heard the victim's leg was badly broken. Any info?

Comments

  • what type of assault?
  • Seems like the victim took a serious beating. Robbery maybe? I don't know. But at 9:30 am in front of a school?
  • wow i think alot of people walk about that time of day!!! how brazen it is.
  • I can only assume this is the same incident....my husband found a man lying btw 2 cars on st. mark's (btw vanderbilt & underhill) Tues morning around 9:15am. The guy told him kids beat him up and broke his leg. My husband called 911 for him. He couldn't stick around because he was headed to his doctoral convocation. I left our house at about 9:50 and the ambulance was just taking him away.

We were wondering ourselves what the story was....seemed very wierd.
  • was the dude homeless or edp or something?
  • How old was the gentlmen?
  • Is this post a scam to try to deflate the real estate market in Prospect Heights? I do think so.
  • Where the hell is this Peter Hess character, he's got some explaining to do...

Explaining to do? Not sure I understand. I've lived here in PH since 97, own property, and certainly am not trying to deflate property values. That's a ludicrous accusation. I walked by the incident, which was directly across the street from me, and was seeking information. That is all. A friend whose daughter attends PS 9 told me this morning that the victim was a friend of his, and that there was a PTA meeting regarding this incident in the week following it, confirming that the assault was 1) not gang related and 2) not connected to the junior high on the premises. That's exactly the kind of information I was seeking on this board. I stopped checking back on this board when no information appeared. I'm surprised that rather than comment on the dearth of information, I was slandered. Anyway, I hope this information is useful to anyone actually interested in the vitality, safety, and community of Prospect Heights rather than baseless sniping and gossip about neighborhood bars.
