when I was in elementary school on LI, one of my cats would walk me to school, across a 6-lane road with a crossing guard. When I went to school, he came home by himself and she would stop the traffic for him :-)

I used to walk the kitty on a leash when I was in a more residental hood. She liked it. Then she got too fat for her harness.
