Dentists in the Slope

There is no such thing as a gentle dentist.
Dentists make sure that your experience in that damn chair is a horrible , and painful one.
They lock you up in that torture chamber , and attempt to blind you with the 15000000 watt light.
Bastards , they are all selfish bastards I tell ya!

No not true
Dr. Nathaniael Sasson.. 9th street right off 6th ave.. a sweetheart amd a good dentist!! -
Someone recommended Dr. Tischmann, who was quite nice, but his hygenist made me cry. I was splitting out mouthfuls of blood and had blood on my glasses after the cleaning! I literally comtemplated getting up and running out of the office when she turned around to pick up another instrument of torture, and I am usually pretty stoic about most medical procedures. My god, it was probably one of the most painful experiences of my life. So Dr Tischmann as a dentist, yes. Getting your teeth cleaned there-NO!!
-
I feel for you. I had horrable dental experiences as a kid. For years as an adult I never went to the dentist. Then I found someone who is so understanding and gentle. I've been going to him for 12 years and he has never hurt me. They even note in my chart which hygienist I like the most, so when I make an appointment they give her to me. He is in Manhattan, but to me it is worth it. Dr Greene. 212-532-1400. They take Delta Dentle.
-
I liked Dr. Tischmann, but didn't have a chance for a teeth cleaning. FYI If you have a heart murmur then they won't treat you without antibiotic. I think they'll write one for you there though.
One of my friends at work went to a dentist he really liked in Tribecca - Tribeca Dental and Vision 212-431-4059. They share offices with an optometrist.
He said that they were nice and had a really clean space with new equipment. They take our somewhat obscure plan so I'll give them a try next time I need to see a dentist. -
I have been living in Park Slope for over 35 years and needed to find a new dentist with better technology, gentler, and with more education than my current one. I also am covered through Delta Dental and found the BEST dentist I have ever had.
His name is Robert Rosenkranz and he is on Third street between 7th and 8th Aves. His brand-new office is amazing, flat screen tv in the waiting room, digital x-rays, flat-screen monitors on all the new dental chairs (where he uploaded my new x-rays and explained everthing to me), a tiny intraoral camera that took pictures of the insides of my mouth, all new equiptment, wonderful staff, and THE MOST CAREFUL AND PRECISE DENTIST I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. I have recommended him to all of my friends, with similar results.
I have very sensitive teeth and gums and unlike Dr. Tischmann's office, Dr. Rosenkranz performs all of the cleanings himself.
I also had a filling and had no pain whatsoever AND watched a Seinfeld episode on special DVD glasses (with little earplugs for sound!) and wasn't afraid at all! He had soundless drills and combined with watching a funny show at the time and his easy manner, was completely relaxed and calm.
He is funny, young, well educated and wonderful! I even brought my granddaughter there for her first check-up after I found out they have a Pediatric Dentist (Dr. Waltner) there every Friday. She watched a Barney movie on the screen attached to the dental chair, he talked about Mr. Thirsty (the suction thing that would go into her mouth), let her hold all of the instruments first so she would not be scared, the assistant was great as well and held a mirror near my granddaughter so she could see everything that was being done (the BEST idea ever - she was not scared), and gave her tons of stuff when she left. A "tooth braclet" for her and one for her doll, a Sesame Street toothbrush, 4 tubes of sparkle toothpaste, disney princess stickers, kids mouthwash, little info sheets, and let her pick some toys (a koosh ball and a sticky frog thing) out of the 'treasure chest' in the reception area.
all and all the best office I have ever been to. I am a new person to this board, but have loved this neighborhood for a long time. I reccommend Dr. Rosenkranz to my own family and friends and would not have spent this much time writing about him if I didn't truly think he was the best.
oh... he takes all insurances, as well as delta!

Finest Dental, Dr. Isabella Belinky is good. She's does her own cleanings. And she's gentle enough. I haven't had a problem with pain and she's done several fillings and root canals for me. They're at 10 Plaza Street East. I don't know what insurance they take.
-
Eric Last in Bklyn Heights is professional, gentle and always stays up on current technology. His staff is very nice as well. Don't know about insurance though. 718/625-6629

I'm a big fan of Dr. Teichmann but my first experience of having my teeth cleaned there sounds just like yours. He has two hygienists and I have since learned to specifically ask for the other one, Denise, who is fantastic. -
I go to Gentle Dental on 5th Ave at Union. Drs Kravatz and Goldman are fantastic. Very funny and nice. They don't ask annoying questions while your mouth is full. It looks a bit sketchy from the front but they have done a great job on my teeth (which were a mess) with minimal pain.

I just came back from my first visit to Dr. Rosenkranz (recommended above) and I was extremely happy. VERY thorough and all new and top of the line equipment. He has an ultra sonic teeth cleaning gizmo that was pretty awesome and his xrays are digital so you can get them emailed to you if you are ever out of town and need to see a dentist...etc.
Also, he has a flat screen monitor and plays movies for you that are still in the theatre (not on DVD yet) Awesome.
I'm happy and my teeth are supa dupa clean. Time to stain them up again with some coffee
-
Dr Rosencranz is terrific. Very kind and friendly. He and his staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Big thumbs up for me.
-
Re the note about antibiotic/heart murmur or no treatment. That's standard procedure these days.
-
Ok, you two sold me. I'm calling tomorrow. I like how it says there is an in-house specialist available, which is what I think I need, an all phases of general dentistry. And since we have no dental ins. he has financing/payment plans available. Last year we spent the equivalent of a small car on dental.

Dr. Rosenkranz is being featured on NPR right now. The reporter said she'd found out about his "video dentistry" through a blog.
-
Damn I'm at work and missed it. Can you give up a recap on what was said?

If you go to http://www.wnyc.org/shows/me/latest you can hear it. It was in the second hour of the show, approximately 36 minutes into it. -

Yeah, he's great.
I'm hoping he doesn't get too booked up, with the word getting out about him :P -
Reala5, i took ur advice and was so excited to find that Dr. Rosenkranz was open on Sundays! I work all week and Sunday is my one free day to actually get things done. I called Dr. Rosenkranz for an appointment and he got me right in! It was great! Not only did he have the newest technology, which was awesome for not only the entertainment of being able to watch movies while he worked on me, but when he showed me my x-rays, i couldnt believe how cool it was to see them right in front of me! Usually im the type to dread these dentists appointments, but seriously, this one rocked! It was the most pleasant and painless dentist appointment I ever had. I definately recommend Dr. Rosenkranz to everyone looking for an awesome dental experience! Oh ya, and perfectly shining teeth!!!
-
so ya think dr. rosenkranz has an opening for me to come in so i can finish watching my movie on those cool dvd glasses??? 8) its almost getting me to eat candyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!
-
Got recommended to Dr. Rosenkranz's office through all your posts, and I had to see it to believe it. I freak out at the dentist's office-haven't been to one in years, but I just came back from a SUNDAY appointment this week. It was GREAT! No worries, and Bill Cosby was a riot (the video I watched while getting my X-rays done). This guy's technology was so supped up-its ridiculously awesome. He was so chilled, and cool-it was my best dentist experience EVER!
I give him a 10- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
-
I took my kids to Rosenkranz this past Sunday also, he was great with them. He shut down for three hours to do all of them, two had never been to the dentist before and have _very_ favorable thoughts of it now. They are all going back in two weeks for molar sealants and an extraction or two, and I went ahead and made an appointment for myself as well.
-
I have one word for you folks....actually two.... "THE MAN". As I expound on my experience at Dr. Rosenkranz's office I would like you to imagine as I take you through this wonderous and most pleasant...yes MOST PLEASANT experience at THE DENTIST!! As I walk into the dental room, all my fear of going to a new dentist rapidly dissipates. I look around and see the new state of the art tech. and it was so comforting to know that despite all the great technology... the dentist was extremely nice and friendly yet gentle and professional all at once. What I though was coolest was the camera that enables him to take pictures of the cavities in my mouth and therefore enabled me to know exactly what was going on in my mouth especially since I am clueless  in regard to anything related to dentistry. I am definitley on the bandwagon like you all
. To put it simply..... IT ROCKED!!! -
I went to Doctor Rosenkranz's office to bring my daughter there for a dental emergency and he had his pediatric dentist (doc. waltner) who took such good care of her and was so gentle and caring that as i was leaving i made an appointment for myself and my husband.... not only is the office high tech and completely brand new but the icing on the cake was the warmth and care that they gave to their patient... i highly recommend them....

I know that I aapreciate it when ppl share their information with me-- so I felt it was incumbent upon me and out deference to the GREAT Dr. Rosenkrancz that I tell you all a little bit about my experience.
My hours at the office are terribly insane ( I am a lawyer) and after about a week of a sore throat I noticed that my right cheek looked a little swollen... About 8:30 one night I phoned Dr. Rosenkrancz's service and he called me right back.. he waited in the office for me -- and he gently checked my teeth-- all the while smiling and reassuring that he will do what it takes to make sure I am okay-- he found I had an abcess in by an impacted wisdom tooth... he gave me a course of anti biotics, he DRAINED the abcess (it was huge) and eventually I had the tooth removed---- all under the auspices of the Great Dr. Robert! He worked aroung my schedule. He took my phone calls- worked with my neurosies -- and he even let me answer my cell phone calls in the middle of my examination!!
Call HIM if you need a pleasant dental experience! -
Being pretty new to PS I appreciate the advice and will definitely look into Dr. Rosenkrantz. I did try Gentle Dental once, but they weren't as gentle as I would have hoped and constantly, and loudly complained about other patients right in front of me. Not a very comforting atmosphere and made me wonder what they said about me once I was gone...hmmm.

I think this is what started it all, LITTLEGAL, and ever since what carey experienced and wrote there has been a buzz about Dr. Rosenkranz and as a pt now and family

all we know and see from hearing around town is "First Class", and our friends used him too and they loved him, but if you want to see more about him, I checked out his website www.parkslopedental.com and it was very informative prior to going to see his office. Hope this will help you best of luck and enjoy it was a great experience so have no fear

Does anyone know if Rosenkranz has nitrous oxide available in his office??? Also, since he has all this new-fangled equipment, are his prices higher than other Park Slope dentists??
Howdy, Stranger!
