Anybody know what's happening with Bar Four? I heard they were closing but now it looks like they've expanded. They are the bane of our existence - we live two doors down and have a baby, as do our neighbors, but even if we weren't horrible Park Slope breeders, yes, even before, we hated them. They are SO LOUD! And the drunken idiots who smoke outside on the street defy belief. Please, somebody put us out of our misery! Tell me they are closing!

    i haven't heard anything to that effect, OP. sorry. but i wholeheartedly agree -- i have no love for them, either. there are some seriously bad apples that come out of that place. i am not a breeder and i am a proud drinker, but that place is, was, and probably always will be irresponsible to the neighborhood.

    My husband drinks at Steinhof and has been told by a cop who drinks there too that there's a lot of drug interaction (i.e. sales) at Bar Four, and I've read on this site that it's "the best place in the Slope to score". Also, weren't there a couple of incidents where people ran in there while being chased by cops? Just nasty and bad news all around. Unfortunately it's right on the line between districts, so if you write to councilmembers, they each claim it's the other's jurisdiction.

    AND just for the record, we were pretty big and proud drinkers too before we caught the breeding bug (watch out - we'd been living in the Slope for nearly 10 years; it's in the water) and we NEVER went to Bar Four, even though it's on our corner.

    I guess we're stuck with it.

    Hi -- I live a little farther down the block and share your hatred, thanks to the drunken idiots who walk down the street shouting to each other late at night. I went there once years ago and never again-- too loud and grimy. I hope they close. And I am thoroughly disgusted by what is being done to that building -- looks like another building fell on it, or is mating with it.

    it makes me feel really old saying this, but it's exceptionally loud in there. i mean, crazy, uncomfortable loud.

    Just judging by the people hanging around outside I've never had any desire to go in the place.

    If you want to complain, register a complaint with the SLA. (State Liquor Authority)

    Their license is up for renewal 2/28/2008. Unfortunately it is a ways away, but the best way to get your complaints heard is through the SLA.
