Birthday cake

edited November -1 in Brooklyn Eats
My husband's 30th Bday is next month , and I want to buy him a beautiful tasty cake.....does anyone know of a bakery , preferably in Park Slope, that sells yummy birthday cakes?

The type of frosting that I am looking for is the whipped type , not the butter creme thick stuff that they usually put on birthday cakes.

Hook me up , please.

  • what about joyce? not a cheapie, but 30 is a big deal birthday.... you could ask them to do a whipped cream frosting.
  • Thanks Sweet tea.

I have never heard of Joyce , but I will look it up , and check it out.
  • you might be able to get something from Two Little Red Hens, but you'll have to ask them about the frosting, too..
  • contact ... prissy? the dominican cake lady that adverts on the site's classifieds. she told me that she can make a whipped frosting. get a sample. joyce is on vanderbilt and park.
  • Buy a pack of Suzi-Q's and top them with Reddi Whip.
  • LOL , Idlewild !

That is so cheap and ghetto!

He is turning 30 , he is crushed enough as it is.

    Suzi-Q's & Reddi Whip , WTF?
  • I forgot the Bosco on top.

Don't knock it till ya try it. Besides, wait until he hits 40. He'll think he died and went to hell.
  • Okay fine , I'm on a diet , but I'll try a SQ , and it better be worth the 500 calories.... or I'm coming to get ya!

For his birthday , a real cake is best.

I agree with the saying " you're only as old as you feel". Do ya think I feel my age? Hecky NO!
  • I dunno how old are you?
  • I'm 26 , and next year I'm gonna have to change my name to Em27....or maybe just keep the 26.image

E&M---Are the two middle letters of my real name , and 26 is the age I was when I became Brooklynian's bitch. A former co-worker had a hard time pronouncing my name , not that is hard to, so she nicknamed me Em.

Did you choose Idlewild because you like the band or the movie?
  • I chose Idlewild because I feel it represents the Faustinian angst of the collective mass as represented by a majority of the members of this board. I never heard of the band and sort of heard of the movie. So, is your real name dEMitasse or shEMp? Btw, I'd keep that pack of Suzi Q's in the fridge for an hour before eating. They're much better chilled.
  • Oooh damn , I was way off.

No , and no , you'll never guess.

I like to eat non-refrigerated cake.... cake sitting in room temperature , because I like the frosting to be soft and creamy.
  • Ain't no frosting in Suzi Q's. Just wonderfully thick and delicious milk and beef suet based cream filling. How about sEMolina? I bet that's your real name.
  • Frosting , cream filling , same stuff to me.

I'm lovin' the names your giving me here , lol.

I'll PM you with the real one , and you'll see why you would have never guessed it.
  • mEMorexia jones?
  • Nope , I'm sending it now.

I was having trouble with the page and I had to shut down my pc without being able to log off the board....just got back on.
  • My favorite bakery in the Slope for cakes is Cousin Johns on 7th (between Lincoln and Berkeley). Pricey but worth it. Good to order in advance but often (when I procrastinate) they can make it that day and they have several on hand in the case.
