Subject: Is Bonnie's Open Again?

I saw that they were shut down by the board of health this past weekend for failing an inspection. I love their burgers, fries and wings and who cares about a little rat pooh!?!

    I looked on the DOH website - the citations were stuff like improper handling of the vermin killing poison/traps, not actual poo.

    What I was super bummed to see was their March 2005 and earlier inspections were very clean, then tumbled on the March 2006 inspection. I guess they didn't pass the followup to that inspection, so they got shuttered. I haven't been by to see if they're open again . . .

    Bonnie's, please! We love you and we need you to keep up the original standards!

    I had a burger there last Wed. Not sure when they were closed, but they were open a week ago

    I thought I saw one of the owners/chef/grill guru at the M station this morning! I looked at him and he looked at me, back and forth. And I was embarrassed to ask if he was the guy from Bonnies!

    I don't fully recognize the guy without a wad of meat in his hands.

    I walked by there tonight and it was closed. And lots of forlorn people kept walking by, looking.

    There was a sign on the door Sunday, Bonnie's reopening at 5:30pm.

    I'm pretty sure it's open. I went to La Villa tonight and saw a cumulus cloud of smoke billowing across 5th Ave from the general direction of Bonnie's. It's a sure sign that they're charring burgers again.
