Infuriating! Heroin homless woman w/ 3 yo daughter on the C

Just this week, there has been a new face riding on the C train. It's a homeless woman with her 3 year old daughter. I thought it was bad that she was pushing her sad daughter up & front in people's faces the first time I saw her this week, but today, she was actually HIGH, mumbling and bent over out of her mind with her daughter trailing her. She had short-sleeves so that you could see the track marks.

Is there any way of getting this kid out of this pathetic situation?

  • this is beyond heart breaking. :(

my first reaction would be to alert the police, but there's got to be child services or someone else you can call. hopefully they can do something given the fact that it might be hard to track this woman down on the train. hopefully someone else has more solid advice.

    ugh, i hate this story.
  • I just called the ACS hotline, but unfortunately there's nothing they can do without more information. I would hope that an ACS worker is on the train or a cop or someone physically takes the child to the police :shrugs:
  • please use a condom next time.
  • next time the OP takes the C train?
  • Saw the pair last night on my way back from Manhattan- they boarded the last car of the A at High St. at 8:20pm. Pretty much as described by the OP, including the track marks around mom's elbows. I wonder if they are just shuttling between Brooklyn/Queens stops.

Two acts I used to see regularly on the A: the kid/teen gymnastics duo who would do flips and roll down the length of the car and the gravel-voiced guy who did a stand-up comedy routine (my rent costs $2 but you people are keeping me up at night, etc.). Are they still around?
  • no next time they decided to have unprotected sex.
