Hypocracy on the board related to Picasso and Santo Palo — Brooklynian

Hypocracy on the board related to Picasso and Santo Palo

I have been a lurker for some time now and have been bothered by the subtle hypocracy on this board. One prime example is the bashing of Picasso, based on the assumption that the person who wrote the post about Picasso on May 13, 2007 was affiliated with this Asian-fusion restaurant. The fact that the poster repeatedly denied any affiliation with this restaurant and only when the poster used the word, "totally", did flexichick think that the poster does not work for the restaurant. And why is that? This sounds to me like an assumption is being made that the poster is a non-native English speaker because she used contemporary American lingo.

Meanwhile another person who posted raved about Santo Palo, no one questioned the poster. Why were several people on this board so quick to trash a new restaurant when someone praised it and yet behave differently with respect to a newer restaurant that is being plugged? :x

  • Hesitating to bash you ramengirl. I just wish you had chosen to participate a little before you trashed this forum based on one posting. On any forum if you participate you gain creedence and trust among the other participants. That is just the way it is. I find myself discrediting your comment simply because it IS your humero uno posting... sorry.
  • i see some of the err in the ways of this board, but these comments are just opinions some more misguided than others

i blame such comments on boredom and drinkng, this is why we need more green spaces
  • I "totally" thought this was advertisement........had nothing to do with English as their native language or not. Hell, I can't understand half of what Armchair writes ( ), but that doesn't mean I think he' s shilling.
  • First of all, the suspicious Picasso thread was from last December, so it seems a little suspicious to me that anyone still remembers it let alone cares. Second of all, when someone brand new to the board pops in to rave about a restaurant and includes delivery hours and phone number, to me that says "shill." I'm willing to be convinced otherwise, but I think most people who have wasted lots of time on message boards are pretty good at spotting the shillers.

Also, these posts that say, "I've been lurking for a while but I've finally decided to post so I can tell you that this board sucks"? Um, maybe go lurk somewhere else then?
  • Karl, thanks for my new .sig line.

Not me -- stand back while I get the brickbat.

Hey, noodlehead -- you're jumping the gun with your assumptions. As a matter of fact I was just about to bash Palo Santa to jam, but have become so distracted by your crying that I forgot what the hell I set out to do.

If you’re so worried that Palo Santa, located at 652 Union Street between 4th and 5th avenues, is unbashable, you can relax. Palo Santa's Platano Relleno is sucko. If you disagree, please call 718-636-6311 to make a reservation at Palo Santa.
  • How come nobody is bashing noodlewench for misspelling hypocrisy???????????

Yeah, but that would just lead to more grass stains, and we all know what madness ensues then.

I just read through that old thread again and no one bashed Picasso; they were just bashing the OP. By the way, you weren't that Picasso reviewer, were you, ramengirl?

Exactly what do you mean by "subtle hypocrisy" anyway? Is that a polite way of saying "anti-Asian prejudice"? I just want to know who's being accused of what.

I think RamenGirl is just a member of my fan club
  • Can "subtle hypocrisy" become one of the levels of membership, like first Newbie than "subtle hypocrisy"??
  • i think that's a great idea, mama! "Subtle Hypocrite" should be level 2 :)
  • many an orc you must slay to become a level 5 hypocrite

keep working on your spells and roll for a better constitution

I actually like Picasso. If we were some sick hate group with an anti-Asian agenda, surely we'd target Me Kong, Kam Hong, Hing Ling, and Wai Ling before attacking a restaurant named after a Spanish painter.
