That's my old school. They should take those restaurant meals and give them to the kids for a school lunch program. I remember the food at PS 9 being quite disagreeable.

and the burgers tasted like paper. -

Your burgers had shotgun pellets?

Luxury.
At P.S. 251, we got burgers made out of cows that died of infectious disease. We used to DREAM about burgers that tasted like paper. -
I went to PS9 in the late 70s. It was a great experience. I'll be interested in knowing what the plans are for the additional funds - as it is a public school, which we already fund.....

Hey, welcome back, Boaty! Haven't seen you post in ages!

True, but so many public schools are underfunded it's not surprising to me at all to see someone taking matters into their own hands.
Does make me wonder who put it together, though. Stacey, do you know whether this is being organized by a parents' group or the school itself or what? -
Apollonia is right - most schools are underfunded. This fundraiser is a school-wide effort (elementary and junior high) as well as with the PTA.
The funds will be going to help purchase and install smart boards for the classrooms. PS 9 also has many enrichment programs for students after school and if I am not mistaken a portion of these proceeds may be used to help fund these (such as sports, art, culinary arts, robotics, music, dance and drama). -
Hi - it's been a while since I posted....
Great point on the underfunding - I will be sure to go out and support the effort...... -
Following up to yesterday's super fun event (despite the fact that I forgot to wear sunscreen...eep!), I wonder if anyone has the inside scoop on how much money was raised for the schools?
It seemed really well attended and I loved how the kids were so involved; I'm hoping they make this an annual event.
Howdy, Stranger!
