Might we be bumping into Beyonce and Jay-Z at the Keyfood and Ripple soon?

Kind of makes since since Jay-Z is a part owner in the soon-to-be Brooklyn Nets...

A Curbed commenter had noted yesterday that Beyonce bought a two-bedroom apartment at the Meier building
To the left, to the left
A mighty meaty wind blowing up from the left
you must not know about carneviento
you must not know about carneviento
  • this is srsly hilarious. I mean, honestly, how much time is she going to spend in that crib? how do we know it's not for a sibling/friend/family member? or just a crash pad?

in any case, would be HILARIOUS to see her and/or jayz in ripple. HAH.
  • I think that this is standard practice for new "high end" condo buildings. After courting a celebrity to purchase a unit in a building, the developer invites said celebrity to attend a party in order to garner media attention. Then, the celebrity never sets foot in the apartment again and sells it a few years later.
  • Exactly. Busta Rhymes was rumored to have bought (maybe he did??) the penthouse of the Gretsch Building in Williamsburg, and believe me, no one's seen Busta-Bust eating brunch at Diner, getting iced coffee at Verb, or congregating with hipsters at the arcades at Barcade.
  • to add to the rumor-mill... i heard about beyonce last week, the same day i heard about an "indie rocker of some repute" moving into hello living:

    no one's saying who though....
  • maybe we'll see memphis bleek shopping for pig feet in that c-town aisle devoted to all hooves cloven.

They got pig's feet at C-town? I ask because I like to call joints that carry them, ask if they have pig's feet, and when they answer in the affirmative I ask them where they buy their shoes.

No, not very original. But it's a nice goof.

I have bought large quantities of pig's feet at the Key Food on Washington and the Met Food on Vanderbilt for my students' suture labs (the skin is almost like human skin).

    Sorry to continue the tangent.

    Carry on...

Yes, but he did get his security guard shot and killed while filming a video in the neighborhood. (And refuses to tell the cops who did it) Maybe we can look forward to such celebrity hijinks in our own environs one day.

Actually the shooting happened up at a sound stage in Greenpoint, miles away from the Gretsch Building. There's never been a trace of Dungeon Dragon ("rarr! rarr!") in the neighborhood.
  • I heard Jay Z is moving to DUMBO. I have a gift store across from this new luxury condo building that just opened up on Jay St/ Front St., and he'd be moving in this summer. I'll let you know if I spot them around.
  • i heard amil of major coins is moving into the used clothing drop box on the corner of rogers and prospect.

i heard his broker told him it was Prospect Heights East.
  • Wow - I guess I'm actually old and not a hipster as I don't know who the hell you guys are talking about.
  • I heard from a reliable source who is involved with showing and selling units in this building that this is a hoax. Beyonce is not purchasing an apartment here.

Oh well, maybe someone really cool, like Mark Hamil or Leif Garrett, will emerge to provide the "star power".
  • Or that Beastmaster dude - Marc Singer is his name, I believe.
