cable/internet options — Brooklynian

cable/internet options

monochrome
edited November -1 in Park Slope
Hey-- my girlfriend and I are moving to Park Slope and we are wondering what our options are in terms of internet and cable. We had Optimum/Cablevision in our previous apartment, and they were unbelievably annoying. What service do you have, and how much do you pay??

  • Time Warner is the cable and internet provider for all of PS.
I pay around 130 for cable [with HBO and Showtime] and internet/mo.
Only had trouble once, and had the city step in and I got 3 mos. free service as a result.
For DSL: Verizon, and other resellers that use Verizon's wires.

True the internet comes from Time Warner but they are not the ISP. For time Warner cable base braodband you can use

    Road Runner High Speed Online
    EarthLink High Speed Internet
    NY Connect

I'm in Windsor Terrace and have Verizon DSL, $29.99 month. I have about has many problems with them as I did with TW/Earthlink cable modem when we lived in the city, not many but it does go down everyonce in a blue moon so I keep my POTS telephone
  • Ah, yes, I forgot that TW lets other ISP's onto their cables.
    Like Verzon with DSL ISP's.
And Con Ed and Keyspan with other energy suppliers.
  • We use Verizon DSL and have virtually no problems in 3 years. The upstairs neighbors both use TW cable internet and always have problems. Always. I know because I have to let the TW guy into the backyard for our building through my apartment. (I say always but I'd say they each have had to call TW at least 3 times over the past 18 months.)
