Where can i get a GOOD oxtail and rice & peas?

Comments

  • The best is at Brooks Valley on Tompkins and Hancock and I am sure you will be a regular.
  • In the neighborhood, I'd recommend three spots. Gloria's 2 on Nostrand and Sterling, Sunshine on Nostrand at Union, or Island Village on Lincoln at Classon
  • Gloria is great for roti but they are Trini and that is their specialty, but for jerk or ox you go Jamaican. Rule of thumb is curry is Trini - although Jamaican is good with the goat - and Jamaican for jerk and brown stew and ox tail.
  • What about on the other side of Eastern Parkway-over by Medgar Evers?
  • There are two Gloria's on the other side of Eastern, one near Maple and the other near Fenimore; and while in that neck you better check out Allan's bakery so you experience what the international buzz is all about.
  • I ate at Island Village yesterday, and the food was good. The rice and peas was kinda gummy but overall the food was nice.

    Where is Allans Bakery?
  • Nostrand and Maple on the east side is where you will find Allans and if you like apple turnovers check out the bakery by Bklyn College at the junction, they've been around as long as Junior's.
