Neighbor assulted on st. mark's ave and kingston

Subject: Neighbor assulted on st. mark's ave and kingston

Our neighbor that lives across from the brooklyn children's museum was assulted and hospitalized -- she's been living here for years, is black, and more than 70 years old. I've called the 77th precinct Community Affairs and left messages to no avail. It seems as if things are getting worse rather than better. I do think there needs to be more police presence around Brower park and the surrounds, I know personally of 5 incidents that have affected my family or neighbors. We moved to CH in 2003. If anyone has media contacts, or is themself interested in writing a piece on what seems to be a growing problem, please let me know. At this point I have more faith in media coverage getting through to decision-makers, than phone calls and letter writing -- I've gone to meetings, met with the precinct etc..(Post your info and I will contact you)

  • Subject: I'm writing a piece

    Hi there,
I'm a student at the CUNY School of Journalism and I'm working on stories on the neighborhood. I would be very interested in speaking with you and others. My goal is to get my pieces published in a local paper, if not elsewhere. I will be at the 77th community precint tomorrow night. Hope to see you and others there...
    Thanks,

  • What was the nature of the assault? Did someone break in her house? Attack her on the street?
  • She was walking to work early in the morning. Around St. Mark's and Kingston ave a man came toward her quickly hit her in the face, knocked her down. She screamed, and luckily someone heard, and called the police who came quickly. I don't believe they caught the assailant.
  • The exact same thing happened to me on Brooklyn: A man came towards me, hit me in the face with an object and robbed me and I needed to go to hospital. They never caught the guy - could very well be the same one!

Athenee - did you report it? If not please call the precinct and inform them that the same thing happened to you.

I hope both you and Guest's neighbor are ok.
