New to Brooklyn

I have two specific questions for the locals of this area:

1) I have been reading conflicting information about which cell phone providers have good coverage in this area - from your experience, which company would you suggest?

2) I have to commute everyday to Hunter College. I have come up with MANY different combinations of routes that I could potentially take - but I'd love to hear from people who have experience actually commuting to the UES. I have no idea which trains are reliable or slow or safe at night... I can only go off of what my map tells me...

I've been told to take the G to the 7 to the 6 or the G to the L to the 6 or the G to the A/C to the 4 to 6... please help!

Hunter is at 68th and Lexington. The route you mentioned to me is one that I had not thought of. How is the transfer from the G to the EV at Court St? My map makes it look like a long distance. Same for the transfer from the EV to the 6. Would I have to exit the Lexington/53rd station and walk down to the 51 St station to catch the 6? Or is there a direct transfer there? The EV would be faster than the 7 train, wouldn't it?

kittygirl, have you ever used www.hopstop.com? It might be worth checking for the quickest route. As you can see from our input, there are several ways you can get there -- the site is a good measure of the most direct way.
