Met Opera in Prospect Park - details?

traditionally they set up on the field of the Long Meadow right about the 9th street entrance, not the bandshell. can't say for certain, but it's been that way for years.

You know, it's not that great. Most people come with blankets and picnic. The kids are cute, but no one pays attention to the orchestra, everyone is drinking and socializing. Come early to get a spot close enough to the stage to see anything, and go with a bunch of friends.

agreed!
i enjoy opera. i go to City Opera pretty often. i'd go to the Met more often if i could afford it. but Met in the Park is about the wine, the food, the outdoors, and the community feel. i LOVE it when the Met comes to the park, or the Philharmonic, or a few weeks ago when they showed Close Encounters of the Third Kind. it's a social activity, and it makes me feel happy to live in Brooklyn!!! -
The performances are usually kind of mediocre (boring selections of music) but it is a great social activity.

definitely being held on the Long Meadow. they were setting up this morning.

Pardone...I should have said "it's not that great for music" the scene itself is a lot of fun. I especially like the children playing with those glowy things after the sun goes down. The acoustics though are horrible, and I'm usually so far away that's it's like a badly dubbed japanese movie, the singers are moving their lips before I hear the sound.
