Excuse me? That's a pretty loaded accusation to throw at a stranger and I don't appreciate it.
Ok now, let's all hug and stop hating.
Let's talk about food and local events instead..... -

YS, people who throw garbage around and disrespect their neighbors in other ways...suck. Even if they belong to your approved group of current/older residents.
And don't forget that there are a ton of people in your approved group who would agree with some of the things I'm saying here. Can't handle my mild comments? Try listening to one of the older residents talk about the people who act this way. You forget that there are a ton of long-time residents in the nabe who are neat and respectful, and who look down on this sort of behavior more strongly than many newcomers. These people often work hard to ensure that they are never confused with people like that. It's a daily struggle. You seem way too intelligent to not know all this.
If you didn't like the chicken bone thing, there's a reason I put it in there. It irks me. I have seen chicken bones:
On the street
On the sidewalk
On top of cars
On the stairs to my building
In the lobby of my building
In the stairwell of my building
And yes, on the windowsills in the stairway of my building.
I'm sick of em and don't care what you think about it, sorry.
Finally, my main reason for the original post was because it seemed sorta funny and ironic to see the most openly reviled group on Brooklynian acting...pretty cool. And I gave credit where credit was due. Obviously, I was trying to tweak a few nerves as well. -
my downstairs neighbor is a black woman who has been living in the neighborhood for 40 years. i want to sit down with her at some point and talk more about the history of the neighborhood. we talked briefly about it and she said she was the first black person in the building and one of the first in the neighborhood. "it was such a nice neighborhood back then. they had street cars going down washington avenue and it was so pretty and clean." i bet she has a lot of interesting things to say about the changes she's seen in her 40 years here.

i didn't respond to your original post, just to people who claimed that anyone sensing a racial connotation were projecting their own prejudices. we get it, you prefer new courteous white residents to trouble-making black ones. yay. -

you can't just set up an argument like that without being manipulative. i think ALL of us would like courteous neighbors. why would you assume that white neighbors are less courteous than blacks? because if you think that, then come live in my apartment for a while. -

Black Hipster??? What are black people, some lower form of life? Read this (a conversation about this from 2 years ago... Yes 2 YEARS AGO, by people who are under 30. NEWSFLASH! Hipster is a dated term. It lost its meaning from overuse. Now it just means someone who is under 27.)

BTW, I saw this go down last night on Washington & Prospect. AND there were plenty of chicken bones on the street after they were done.
DAMN HIPSTERS! I READ ABOUT THESE GUYS IN NY MAG. I HATE EM! -
actually, Sloppy, you won't have a good time on this message board. you'll get disgusted, then bored, then you'll leave and drop by periodically to insult people. enjoy!

Any of BigGuy's descriptions except the chicken bones (which are pretty unique to the neighborhood, but which he's addressed clearly already) could apply equally well to inconsiderate assholes in Bensonhurst as to inconsiderate assholes around here.
BigGuy was saying that he prefers courteous residents to trouble-making ones, period. You on the other hand are clearly implying that you prefer trouble-making black residents to courteous white ones. If you don't think that's projecting your own prejudices, that's your problem. -

Big Guys got a point. The bones be everywhere, except in trash cans.

BigGuy's post is about new residents in a caribbean neighborhood being gentrified. it doesn't take Patches Da Bigotry-Sensitive Uber-Hound to sniff out what he's saying. shit, the ENTIRE point of his post is just a declaration that he prefers neat, quiet white people to loud, messy black ones. i know, i know, that's all in my head -- but if it's not racial, what's the differention between the two groups?
but maybe BigGuy can clarify as to the respective ethnicities of the "hipsters" and the chicken-bone throwing, beer bottle-leaving, bass-blasters. seems simple enough. -
YS, I think you are the only person in this thread who is concerned about race. I just want to not walk through garbage or be woken up by loud-ass music. And it's nice to see some folks having a good time without producing either. You're becoming a caricature.
-
again, i'm wondering where do i as a lound music listening, messy white person fit into this insanity!? can someone PLEASE classify me and end my turmoil!?
-
If you throw garbage around the street, fail to curb your dog, and/or force the whole block to listen to your choice of music, then you would be considered annoying.
-
but what if i'm a hipster too!?
-
I think for a lot of people, that would make it even worse. You may be screwed.
-
slugger, your entire point was about race. otherwise, what characteristic separates the groups from each other? think essential and not accidental, like my old head aristotle. but i don't even care about your original post -- i mean, really, who the fuck doesn't like quiet neighbors more than loud messy ones? what a revelation.
my issue is with the people claiming anyone who sees racial connotations in a post absolutely oozing with them is wrestling with their own prejudices. that's some FOX news shit. -
I wish I could get some nice considerate hipsters in my building. The revolving set of ones across the hall not only are loud, always blocking up the stairs, and have an obnoxious dog that would rip out a throat given a chance, but also encourage the cuddly drug dealers with their patronage. And their fashion icons are Stephanie Tanner...which might be the worst offense.
Then again, it is Crazy Lane... -
BigGuy wrote: YS ... You're becoming a caricature.
Becoming? -
YS: negative. As was mentioned before, you may be projecting. I think you're generally acknowledged as one of the guys on the PH board most concerned with putting people in categories and judging them on it. My post was about noise & garbage. Oh, and hipsters.
-
BigGuy: you've still yet to clarify the respective ethnicities of the two groups. if the bottle-throwing, chicken-litterers are cambodians or armenians, i'll happily admit i was wrong and am drowning in a racial cesspool of my own psychological creation. thanks, hoss.
WhyFi: i don't remember you. i remember erikka. she leans like a cholo. -
Does anyone here want to buy some mightly good chickens? Mmmmmm good.

Oh honey there's plenty of chicken bone throwin', loud ass, music blasting white trash mo fo's out there. Obnoxious people come in all colors...
What we should be talking about here, is how we're going to punish Big G for not sticking to the skinny-pant hating rule.
Rule 1 of the boards: Assume that you are always right.
Rule 2: Assume that everyone that talks on the boards are white, rich, elitist, KKK badge wearing honkys.
Rule 3: Hate Hipsters and their jean colored spandex
Rule 4: Lock Yo Doors
Rule 5: ________
Howdy, Stranger!
