Howdy PH Folks,

What kind of Business would you like to see on the corner of Washington Ave. & St. John's Place? They cleared out all the garbage from the store front and the basement a couple of month ago. I'd like to know what people think.

Comments

  • A real butcher shop.
  • bagel and bread bakery/deli like terrace.
  • a self-serve cafe with good coffee & tea, bagels, sandwiches, fresh bread, maybe soup and other easy, cheap, but TASTY to-go style options.

oh, with tables and maybe sofas to chill, for those who want to linger. --- open LATE.

    or a thai food restaurant.
  • there's a bunch of stuff in here:

i hope someone does something soon!
  • if the members of this forum pool their money and give it all to me, i'll open whatever you want me to.
  • A Giant Robot Father to love and discipline the young men of the neighborhood.
  • i have a masters in education and counseling. i could do that. PM me and we can talk about my budget.
  • Deli, community resource center, art gallery, performance space!
  • i'm a wonderful chef, minored in photography, and have been in bands, plays, and musicals and set up many many shows! i can do it all. seriously people, pool your money. i'm worth it. wanna throw in some athletics too? i'm now a triathlete!

If you can win the mustard-yellow belt away from Kobayashi, I'm in.
  • coffee place that welcomes all of us stroller moms would be great.
  • no promotion of stroller culture
  • too late, son. we've been slowly strolling into and taking over the 'hood. witness montessori on washington, chai tots going in on classon & EPkwy, the numbers of kids dining at Cheryl's, etc.
  • A coffee place! With comfy couches and simple food. PLEASE!!!

What's wrong with the place on Prospect and Grand???
  • Deacon Blue? I don't think they're open mornings/afternoons except Fri-Sun. If they are, please correct me! Even without couches, I'd be happy to while away a day or two in there.

Even so, I'd love for there to be a cafe (not a restaurant/cafe) on Washington.
  • Applebees!!!!!!111!!1!!!
  • butchershop. go to carrol gardens, steal los paisanos, move it here. easy peasy.
  • It could end up being something to match Underhill and St Johns.

They are working on being open more hours. Mention to them your wish might help them along. =)

Someone "strolled" you at one time. Don't be a "Breeder Hater".

    Peace.

    :D
  • i want to change my vote::: PLANNED PARENTHOOD is what should go on the corner of washington and st.johns. PLEASE.
  • Wait... what? Of course we want a KFC to go in there! Rumor has it that chicken bones affect white people in the same manner that garlic acts on vampires.
  • Again, Applebees is the correct choice.

The problem with the K-Fry idea is that there are also non-white people who dislike garbage in the street. Good job implying otherwise tiger.
  • That corner of St. John's and Underhill is my favorite ( architecturally) in the neighborhood. Its a shame that the owners have let many of the buildings go the sh*t around there - including the corner market on the north side of the street.

    Check out old nabe photos:

I too would have loved to live on the top floor of the "laundry" building.
But the current tenant/ owner doesn't seem interested in fixing it up so should it just sit there and be crappy - maybe not.

The building looks okay, I probably couldn't afford a unit in it, but it will help increase my current property values so that makes me happy.
Will there be retail on the ground floor? I am going to check DOB website...
