what part of my entry was nasty?

Take away the nasty word... just sounded like you were not understanding like I could like the food and still not want to return to the place.. Get it?
Apology if I offendedd you.. -

I sure can critique a restaurant even if I've never been there if I know enough about the owner. I'm not giving any business my hard earned money when the owner has behaved the way the owner of Elementi has. This is coming from a person who frequently shops at local stores and orders from local restaurants (I rarely eat out).
ETA: I agree with veets that it takes more than the food being good to make a good restaurant. Elementi could have the best food in the world and I still wouldn't go there. -
This place looks so incredibly depressing everytime I walk by. I always wonder to myself...who ARE these people that walked by and would have been enticed to come in and eat here. With all of the options in the neighborhood, it just comes as a shock that anyone would actually CHOOSE this place. It's so unwelcoming.
It kinda reminds me of a cafeteria at an old age home. (And I mean that with absolutely no disrespect towards the elderly) It's just that it seems like a place that would be inside an old age home where everyone HAD to eat there whether they liked it or not. -

a cafeteria at an old age home and a funeral parlor.
You guys are brilliant. Those are the exact impressions that I was trying to put my finger on.
I also agree that friendly and inviting are as important as the quality of the food and drink. So when you walk in through the street door there is a near floor to ceiling fancy mirror directly to the left. Since at that point you still are not sure where the entrance is to the diningroom it gave me the oddest feeling of Alice and The Looking Glass.. I felt an impulse to walk right through it! My friend agreed with me and said the entrance is funerial... meaning the entry to a Funeral Palour...

Tobie.. Sounds like you too are on the side of.. There is more to makes a Restaurant welcoming than the food!

I walked by this afternoon and the doors were open and there were a lot of people inside.
-
Chanterelle's dining room looks exactly like a funeral parlor - and with grandma's dining room furniture...even the stained blue carpet - BUT the food is amazing...

Subject: My quick review of Elementi
I'm new to PS and moved here from upstate NY. Elementi was actually the first restaurant I tried in PS.
All I can say is that it was really nothing special. When we arrived, my wife and I were given a "shoe-to-head" look by the two waiters at the entrance of the restaurant, as though they were checking whether our dress code was good enough for their oh-so-fine establishment. I was wearing sneakers and chinos, my wife a skirt -- we felt as though Elementi perhaps required me to wear a suit and my wife a cocktail dress. The food was so-so given the price. Of course it was edible, but nothing to write home about. Service was quite poor. We were trying many times to catch the attention of some of the waiters, but they seemed too busy chatting by the bar.
I was quite disappointed, especially with regards to the price we paid for the whole dinner. We will not go again. There seems to be so many more genuine-looking restaurants in PS, especially on 5th Ave. -
