Can anyone recommend a good vet for my kitten around Prospect Heights?

My kitten is sick and needs to see a good (and not too expensive =) doctor. I'll take her anywhere between Prospect Heights and Brooklyn Heights...

  • I wholeheartedly recommend Park Slope Veterinary Care on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. I have 2 dogs and 4 cats so vet bills can add up. Drs. Maddon and Parker have seen my pets for the past 10 years, first at Prospect Park Animal Clinic on PPW then when they opened their place on 5th Avenue. They have never tried to get me to spend more money than I had to, their prices are very reasonable (for perspective, I consider myself lower income).

Dr. Maddon treated my old dog when he snapped a tendon in his wrist and referred me to a great vet hospital in NJ. He also figured out what was wrong with him (tumor the size of an orange next to his heart) and helped me let him go. Dr. Parker operated on one of my cats when she needed her right front leg amputated. His first concern was for my cat, not how he was going to be paid. They charged me half of what they should have charged and let me set up a payment plan. Of course, it helped that they've known me for years and I would never take my pets anywhere else.

Their personalities are polar opposites, Dr. Parker is soft spoken, diplomatic, and unfailingly polite. Dr. Maddon doesn't sugar coat things, is outgoing, and blunt. But they both love animals, have always wanted to be vets, and will do everything they can to keep your pet healthy.
