Drama Cafe closed by BOH

The "Rats in KFC" video shamed the BOH into action. As for the Drama Cafe, I was really interested, since it had been an empty storefront with just a name for at least a year. But when it opened, there was somehow something creepy about the place, and it looked dirty with that old furniture. Never could convince myself to check it out.
Also, weren't they already temporarily shuttered by the BOH about a month ago? -
Yeah the place had a distinctly bad vibe. I don't remember it being closed before, but I wouldn't be surprised.

More about the owner of the Drama Cafe:

I've already expressed my dislike for her due to the many run-ins I've had with her. She really is an awful woman, I take guilty pleasure in the problems she's had with that place. -
The Drama Cafe had/has a lame name like the new "Elementi" on 7th. Some restaurants just strike the wrong chord before they even open. You somehow just don't want to be seen in a pathetic joint like that.

Yeah... who really wants more drama in their life?

A thought occoured to me...
Granted, most restaurants probably have a violation of some kind, and yes, drama cafe sucks so no loss there. But I'm confused as to the lack of bodegas that serve food being subject to the BOH crackdown. I mean, come on, could Burger Bar or that french place next to C-Town really be dirtier than Smoke Shop and Deli at the corner that serves sandwiches???
Do you guys think its a case of a renegade asshole inspector? This is starting to get weird now. -
Subject: it was gross
Went there once on my way somewhere else for an iced coffee to go.
It took the kid about 10 minutes to make it...and it was maybe the worst
iced coffee I've ever had! I tossed it after one sip. I would have gone back
and asked for my 2 dollars back, but I felt bad for him and them, as there
was no one else in there.
Maybe something else awesome will open up there. -
wow the landlord sounds horrible.

See that is a very interesting chain of thought to me... I think because of the TacoBell debacle that started this rampage the inspectors are being utilized to be sent out to restaurants. Now if there was a story in the NY Post tomorrow about hundreds of people getting sick from eating at any Bodega in the City then the next "directive" would be to send inspectors to Bodegas!
OK.. Admit it if in your most hungry moment you actually purchased a sandwich from the Smoke Shop and Deli on the Corner ofthe 5th ave and 9th street. Even the name of the place turns me off.. Shall I blow some smoke on your ham and cheese??

"Latin cafe" coming to the space. Same landlord ?

All local restaurants have some sort of health violation. So much goes on behind the kitchen's closed doors...and many restaurant workers lack health insurance and can't afford to take sick days.
Interesting allegations about Sonia Santos. Dog living in basement in its own urine? Calling tenants the N word?
So what's the deal with Drama Cafe? Was it really that bad?
Tea Lounge has long waits, pot head workers, and lord knows what types of rodents are living in the sofas.
Ozzie's is annoying too. Although the coffee is drinkable and the waits are too long, several times I've handed the cashier a $10 and he has given me change back as if I have only given him a $5. It gets annoying asking for your correct amount of change.
I had an excellent coffee at some Cocoa Bar (???) on 7th Avenue.
I hate to say it -- I really HATE to say it -- but while I don't love the taste of Starbuck's coffee, I confess I can't complain about the service. -
-
I'm sorry, but Ozzie's coffee is terrible. Bitter, burned drek. Starbucks is way better and a fair bit more consistent. I frequent Naidres and Grumpy for my caffeine fixes.

Oh good another FAIL. If it's the same landlord Rico is in for a world of hurt.

The woman who owns that space is a horrible woman - she once tried to get Cocotte's liquor license repealed because she was angry that she could only sell wine & beer (too close to the school). She also NEVER shovels so there is a sheet of ice outside the location whenever there's a storm.
And besides being closed more than once by the BOH, she is a thief....after she closed the people who provided the dishwashers kept posting signs that she had their equipment - she kept tearing them down - they kept putting them back.
I know a few of the merchants around her - they would have considered the space if it weren't for the landlady - good luck to whoever opens there.
