Teddy's - New Greek restaurant on Washington Lincoln
Subject: Teddy's - New Greek restaurant on Washington & Lincoln
I just read in the Brownstoner that a Greek restaurant opened on Washington:http://brownstoner.com/brownstoner/archives/2007/06/streetlevel_ted.php?
Teddy's seems like an bad name for a Greek place, even if it is the owner's name. Has anyone heard anything else on this place?

Screw 'heard anything' - I want a phone number; I'm down the street and hungry - nothing open on my block on Mondays.
-
Shit, well git yo ass over there and bring back a full report!
-
Working - I wish that I could leave the store that long, but alas...
-
They hit Lincoln Pl. with menus last night. Looked pretty solid. There were a number of seafood dishes including an octopus dish. Also a bunch of different kinds of Gyro & Souvlaki dishes, and with a bunch of different types of burger. I remember the basic gyro platter being a little over $10.

I don't suppose they'd deliver to PS, huh?
I hope this place is better than Helios, the lamb there has dissapointed me too many times. Though they have GREAT fries (sprinkled with greek herbs). -

I'm sorry, but I've longed to hear those words after getting told again and again that some PS restaurant won't deliver to the heights. -
Stopped by after work and picked up some pasticchio (I think the more accepted spelling is pastitsio, but whatever). Very tasty, and it was a big enough portion that I have lunch for tomorrow -- always a bonus in my book. It's really nice inside -- tin ceilings, pretty wood floors, etc., and they have a backyard too. I didn't go peek, but another customer did while I was waiting for my order and came back raving about how pretty it was. They're BYOB for the time being until they get a liquor license. What a great addition to the neighborhood!

Opened today Noon.
Open till 11pm nightly.
I just got 2 Gyros and they were very good!
Good food, good portions. He has a large menu by any standards and a great garden area in the back and he is OPEN ON SUNDAY!! Take that Tom!!
Coffee is $1, there are 22 wraps, 11 sandwiches, 9 salads, combo plates, 14 hot plates, 18 burgers, side orders desserts, milk shakes, ribs and soups
Just for spite I hope they DON'T deliver to PS!! I am so tired of all of the places I give business to NOT delivering to me from PS....like that freaking Thai place that is technically CLOSER to me than Mango Thai across the street but they don't deliver over here- but Mango Thai will. (Sorry Mamacita but you have so many options in PS - we don't).
Anyway, go to Teddy's and represent.
Try the lemon potatoes - Teddy is the owner and he is very nice. -

Seems like is the operative phrase. Lotsa Greek Teddy's out there. Theodore is a Greek name, it means "Gift of god".
Just sayin'. -
thanks for the report. but this

is unnecessary. 1. tom is long gone. his son gus runs the place. (and doesn't complain when people call him tom.) 2. gus is entitled to a day off a week if he wants it. (see previous discussion on this). 3. you, however, have no converse entitlement that he be open every day.
but mainly, i'd like to hear about spanakopita--do they have it and, if so, how is it? -
Do they have a breakfast menu? Sunday brunch thing? GAK!

You are right. Gus can do whatever he wants on Sunday as a place of business - so can I, thankfully in my own neighborhood. I'm just glad that they are open on Sunday and that I have another choice in my own neighborhood on Sunday.
The spanakopita is great! I may have some on SUNDAY again too - or after work up to 11pm - 7 days a week!!:D
No one who runs a business is above criticism- especially on this board.
Gus nor you should take it personally.( see conversations on Mayday hardware on this board - Jerry can do what he wants to also, I'll be at Pintchik buying stuff). Take that Jerry!! -

It might have been Agnes!
Service, quality of food and hours of operation for any (service) business are valid topics of discussion by customers or consumers using those services.
Wasn't personal. Just business.
Oh and to keep it on topic:
Go to Teddy's at 791 Washington Avenue! -
Here's the number, I guess they have 2:
718.857.5475 or 718.857.5476
I'll have to check this out on the weekend sometime, seeing they won't deliver to PS    -

and great news about the spanakopita! can't wait to go there.
thanks for the report. -
day two report --
souvlaki sandwich was great -- big, lots of meat, tasty -- wish they had lamb but pork and chicken will do.
nice garden and clean interior, as reported. mixed crowd, lovely.
best of all -- agnes, formerly of kam hong -- manning the cash register with a big smile on her face greeting all these familiar customers.
gotta love that. -
so I ordered the combo platter - souvlaki/chicken souvlaki - and, while the phone answering person took great pains to spell aloud combination platter, I ended up receiving the chicken souvlaki platter. frankly, it was pretty good, though, honestly, a bit over priced. I think in the future this may be a place to order from in person and hang out waiting for the food. since, you know, I didn't get to try the other flavor of souvlaki in the mythical combo platter.

I had a Gyro there today and I was pleasently surprised. Very fresh and tasty. Would defenitely go back there again.

I believe it's called Teddys...
I had dinner there last night. I'm told they opened earlier this week.
Standard issue diner classics with plenty of Greek specialties. Very new, very clean, HUGE back patio. Fantastic looking Gyros & Suvlakis.
Well worth checking out.... Also, free delivery. -
MOD NOTE:
merged the PH and CH versions of this thread and xposted.
ADDITIONAL MOD NOTE: edited title to reflect name of restaurant - AFN -

Must have been a nice change of pace to talk to someone without bulletproof glass in between. (Teddy's doesn't have glass, does it?) -

Oh, that's who that was! I knew she looked familiar, and people kept coming in and greeting her like they'd known her forever.
And no, no glass at Teddy's.

We just got lunch from Teddy's -- a chicken gyro sandwich, large Greek salad with chicken, and some hummus on the side.
My husband (he of the bottomless stomach) managed to finish his huge sandwich and was making happy noises the whole time. I barely made a dent in the Greek salad -- it was HUGE (and I'm not exactly shy about the eating myself) and full of little treats -- olives, peppers, stuffed grape leaves, etc.. The hummus was delicious, though we barely tasted it as we were both full. Snacks for drinkies later!
In short, so far, so VERY VERY good. And the space is beautiful -- especially the garden. I'm so thrilled with this add to the neighborhood, I can't even tell you. Opaa! -
I'm drooling. Do they deliver to Crown Heights/past Franklin Avenue?
-
I am so happy this place is turning out to be good. I was kind of a Kam Hong /Agnes junkie. I'm really happy to see her so fucking happy! I mean she is beaming and looks about ten years younger. I hope it continues to rock!
-
The wife and I have eaten there twice. Fantastic food! Fresh veg! Fresh meat! Great service. I wish they servived brains. GAK!
-
I had a take-away Caeser salad with grilled chicken last night...FABULOUS and very, very fresh. I've tried Caesers all over town, and this was delicious. There was plenty of perfectly grilled chicken on top, I had enough to share. Will definitely be patronizing Teddys again. Yay!
-
had brunch there with mamacita and papi chulo - delish. the fish kebab - awesome.
-
I had the pork with lemon potatoes. The pork had a really good flavor but was a bit tough (devoured it nevertheless!). The lemon potatoes were very good and really unexpectedly tasty!
It's BYOB, with no corkage fee by the way. And what seemed to be the owner, was very nice and friendly. I'll be back for sure! Need to try the wraps and fish next.
Howdy, Stranger!
