Teddy's - New Greek restaurant on Washington Lincoln

The wraps are a little big. They fall apart easy, but taste great. The Lemon Potatoes are F*cking fantastic! I really think Teddy's will be around for a long time. =D>

I had a large greek salad last light--superb! A long wait, but the place was hoppin' at 10pm last night...

Have had food from Teddy's twice. Both times excellent. First time we picked up and got a free salad cos they were slammed and misheard the order. (They realized this but gave it to us as a gesture of goodwill! It worked.) Second time was delivery. Fast and friendly. For the record beef gyro, pork souvlaki, lemon spuds, and house salad all really good. Fries were mediocre but they are bad takeout/delivery food, anyway. Also, loved all the people coming in asking for "Yee-Ro's" only to have Agnes at the counter look all befuddled, and then respond, "Oh you wanna Gy-ro".
Yeah, what you said, lol. -
Mrs. C and I and alafairnadia went there the other day. I thought the place is a great addition to the nabe, although some items could definitely be better. The Greek salad, pita and tatziki were all fresh and tasty. The grilled baby octopus was pretty overcooked, and I barely ate any of it. I got the gyro and house-made Greek sausage mixed plate with lemon potatoes. The gyro was kind of salty, but had good meaty flavor. It went well with the tatziki. The sausage had an odd taste, which I'm not sure if is the intended flavor or not. I thought it was ok, but Mrs. C thought it was gross. The lemon potatoes live up to the hype. I also tasted one of AFN's grilled shrimp, and it was way better than the grilled octopus, flavorful and not overcooked at all, despite having acquired that charcoal taste. Mrs. C's pork souvlaki was also a winner. It was quite salty, like the other grilled meats, but the porkiness came through, and it was still juicy and nicely cooked. I definitely plan to put this place into the regular rotation, but I hope they can straighten out some of the problems. The service is great for a place in this price range. Everyone was super-nice.
We also might have seen KWAC there. KWAC, have you gone back since your first post? -
I have been ordering there for the past two weeks, the food is extremely good and the delivery is very fast. If they continue like this they will become famous in the neighborhood no doubt!

I keep thinking about those damn buttery/tangy lemon potatoes.
I might try to make them myself today, do you think they use preserved lemons?? -
We went there with the family this morning and thought the food was fantastic, but the service a little slow -- we were the first customers in the joint and it took them a looong time to bring food. I don't mind a little wait, but if the customers include little kids, for the love of god, send out a plate of pita or a bread basket or something.
The lemon potatoes really are all that, however. We'll be back (or check out the delivery option). -
My wife and I had a greek loukaniko plate, taramosalata, and baklava delivered from Teddy's last night. The food arrived quickly, the portions were huge, and the food was excellent. My wife especially liked the taramosalata. The only down side was the fact that they won't take credit card orders over the phone. Maybe that will change.

I had the gyro plate yesterday... it was large. It was good. I was full half-way through, but I couldn't stop. I was full. I'd do it again.

On sunday afternoon we ordered take out, a chicken swiss wrap, a cheeseburger deluxe with onion rings and a gyro sandwich. Delivery was lightning fast and everybody was happy!!!! Not easy with this picky crew! Will buy from again. AAAA+++++

rockhound, how was the burger??? I've had the burger at Helios and it was juicy and delicious. Not what you'd think to order from a greek place.
I must say though that the fries are pretty blah. -
AS much as I love the food here, I was dismayed to find out last night they DO NOT deliver to Nostrand and Sterling because the delivery guy is on FOOT! WTF??? Anybody want to chip in a get the dude a damn bike? I was craving the Caesar salad with grilled chicken, and was thwarted!

all in all, very enjoyable -
Subject: OK, what did I miss?
Well rats, I was looking forward to this place but I must have missed the fresh stuff b/c my potatoes tasted like they were from last Sunday and reheated in the microwave. The gyro meat on the platter was pink and inedible. I mean INEDIBLE. If you like lamb, it might appeal to you, but I couldn't stand the taste of it. It's probably more authentic this way but I rather have the turning gyro meat from Mr. Falafel on 7th. Liked the yogurt sauce and bread. The service was good, nice interior, the food was presented well and look tasty, but I was, for the most part, terribly underwhelmed by the food. As a side note, I had Chavella's Mexican across the street and the appetizers were yummy. Their brunch looks good too. -
Mamacita- burgers are good -but don't get them delivered unless you have them separate the bun from the burger. Me and roomie both ordered different times and they come super soggy! Big though....and yummy!

Had lunch here yesterday and fell in love. I've been looking for a good quick greek nosh place in Bklyn for a while now, and I think I found it at Teddy's. The tzaziki is wonderful, the chicken and gyro meat is hot and fresh, and you really get a bang for your buck here. Everything is really quality here, and authentic, as the menu states. Go here!~
-
The best part is when I was packing my leftovers away the waitress heard me say "The tzaziki is the bomb" or something to that point and she came up to me and offered me a side order for FREE! to go with my leftovers.
Damn.. that was really cool......

I love Teddy's -- we've been there 6x in the last few months. The food is great and their hours are so convenient.
-
i ordered once, the food was good, although i think it might be better to eat it there, the chicken on the gyro was a bit cold and dry. I will definitely try it again. It's great to have additional culinary options in the hood, there is just so much West Indian food one can it...although i am looking forward to some yummy food a the parade.

Subject: Teddy's Restaurant serves brunch on the Weekends
I have eaten brunch there two weekends in a row now. They have low prices for an enormous amount of good food. Omlettes that take up half a plate and homefries that take up the other half (and multigrain toast if you'd like, to boot): $6.50. For real. They have pancakes and meats and whatever you want. Their back patio is beautiful during this odd-summer-extension we are having. The restaurants in the area are enticing, but Shane is over-crowded and the service, while kind, is slow. And Tom's closes early. They each have their own reasons for amazing success, but -- to be noted-- Teddy's is totally of their ranks. Good food, great prices, good hours. -
Had another tasty meal at Teddy's this past weekend, but they REALLY need more staff on hand on first Saturdays. It was only Teddy and one waitress waiting on a full restaurant -- our food took forever to arrive and we kept running out of water and experiencing all those little annoyances that happen when the wait staff doesn't ever check on you and you can't get their attention when they walk past. I didn't put two and two together until after we'd left that it was that crowded because of the museum or I'd have mentioned to Teddy that they should make sure they have more staff on those nights.
-
I ate there tonight. The patio out back was terrific. Food was delicious, and I'm happy to have a good Greek place in walking distance (having moved here from Astoria, I was missing the food). Lemon potatoes are still fantastic, and I thought I noticed that wine was being served.

Called for deliver, but there was no answe. It was on the 4th, so maybe they closed early.

Must have been, because I got food delivered from them yesterday. So they're definitely still in business! -
What are your recommendations? Had their wings?
-
Are they still BYOB?
-
don't think they're byob. and they were closed on the 4th.
xo -
Poo...didn't realize they were applying for a license. Have only ever had takeout but wanted to try the BYOB patio at some point.
-
call and ask if they have a corking fee.
xo -
I might stop in sometime soon but I did notice yesterday that they still have the "byob" written on their white board in front.
