Is it possible the moderators are doing too good of a job?
I think I am alone on this, (and I am not even registered--although I always use the same name and don't post anonymously), I liked when the boards were less organized and divided and specific. I mean if the discussion on this particular board is ONLY about Park Slope specific issues like stores and restaurants it doesn't seem as lively. But when it is tangental issues generated by Park Slope, it seems to get good discussions going. Just my opinion and I appreciate the work you do moderating (I moderate a board and sometimes it can be tedious)

I agree.

nothing is set in stone! what would you recommend?

um, i like it better this way. i like the purely social aspects of the board, and the dorm-room-bull-session aspects too, but sometimes it can get a little overwhelming. it's nice to know where to look for any given type of discussion.
also, frankly, the PS board was beginning to become -- to my tastes, anyway -- a little overrun with the kind of puffery, flirtation, and personal-life minutia that the "lounge" seems like a great solution for. containment without outlaw status struck me as a good comprimise. -

this is probably a good point - can you give me an example of this? -
I think the recent pit bull thread was a good example of what KM it talking about, as was the do I have to be a girl thread, neither of these were really about park slope, but about issue that effect PSers.

Just curious, but why not just register for crying out loud? You use this board a lot! -

I forgot about your post kensingtonmom before I wrote mine, but I just said the same thing after seeing the difference the last month or so. There seem to be too many categories now and some are almost the same thing: The Lounge, Random Stuff, NY & Beyond, Brooklyn Board
This division seemed to be a result of a few complaints about long threads but it certainly gave me something to read late at night. Not criticizing the administrators either but I guess you can't please everyone.
