any thoughts on living on Ocean Ave. in PLG?

Hi all,

Currently looking to buy a coop on Ocean Avenue near the Prospect Park train station. It looks to me like a cool area so far, but I figure I better do my research. I'm looking for any additional info anyone may have on amenities (drugstores? car service? local libraries?), subway, nabe vibe, women's safety (esp late at night), noise/activity near the park, is there an active community board, etc.

which of the buildings other than 125 ocean and 163 ocean are co-op? i am also interested in the neighborhood, but am wondering why there are so few co-op listings at many of the major brooklyn brokerages--- do you have leads on which brokers cover PLG extensively?

I looked at an apt in 163 a few years ago but the building financials were so bad that no bank would offer a mortgage there.

The Flatbush branch of the Brooklyn public library is at Linden and Flatbush Ave.
