Good temp. agency in Brooklyn/Manhattan?

Hey,

I'm looking for some referrals for a good temp. job agency in Brooklyn or even in Manhattan? I'm looking for work for about two months or so (July/Aug.) before my new job starts so I figured a temp. agency might be a good place to look. Anyone have any experience or recommendations?

  • What kind of work do you do?
  • lots of different work experience but i'm looking for more or less just a general administrative assistant, office assistant type temp job.
  • Contact Glocap - they're fantastic. I quit my (soul-sucking) publicist job the last week in May and went to them the week after. I was looking for both temp and long-term admin stuff. I met with them on Monday, had three interviews lined up that week, and had a full-time job on Thursday.

However, my new job doesn't start until mid-July, so I'm temping with them in the meantime. So far, I've temped for three weeks straight at the same hedge fund, with plenty of hours and great pay.

I'll PM you with a recruiter's info and my (real) name in case they ask for a referring name.

    Hope this helps!
  • I used Kelly Services. They found work for me within 2 weeks. There's an office in Brooklyn Heights and several in Manhattan.
  • There's a new agency called LarsenBrown and their number is 212-696-5400. You can talk to Timothy (who speaks really fast) or Henry.

Another agency I've gotten a lot of work with is The Professionals, and their number is 212-576-1844. Talk to Sheilah (with the lovely brogue) or Nicole (with the charming French accent).

You can also call Creative Network Solutions (cnsny.com) and talk to anyone: 212-986-9760.

Desktop Solutions has also been good to me. Call Michael at 212-405-1904.

That should keep you busy- and those are just the ones that I like. Let them know that Raul referred you.
  • I had put the wrong phone number for LarsenBrown, but I wanted to give them an extra shot out. The owners have been good to me for years, and I'm glad that they started their own agency. Their number again is 212-696-5400 and their web address is LarsenBrown.com.
  • I know a few people that have used GloCap. Mostly financial services support, working with Hedge Funds and Investment bankers etc.

Career Blazers has been very good. Janet Wilde has been there forever. 212-719-3232
  • Don't go with Loyd--few assignments, low pay, and the assignments I did get were at lousy places that treated the temps badly.

I am with Atrium and really like them and the places they've put me. PM me for my person's contact info--sometimes they don't take resumes without a contact of some sort and I'm too lazy to put it up if nobody really wants it. I've done all kinds of stuff for them at all kinds of places (I had no preferences of where to work). I've been at hedge funds, fashion design studios, publicity places, etc.
