New Yahoo Group — Brooklynian

New Yahoo Group

I thought that you'd be interested in the following information. There is a new, moderated Yahoo Group just set-up to help solve the unleashed dog problem in the city parks. You are invited to join the group and share your experiences, ideas, photos, links, suggestions, etc.:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nyconleash/

Joining is easy and it is moderated to keep objectionable comments and individuals off the list. Feel free to forward this to other interested parties.

  • I would be interested to see the nature and tone of the discussions before joining. Is there a way to let visitors read but not post?
  • Subject: tone

Readers should be aware that Citybirder is the anti-Offleash blogger who was become the proxy/web mouthpiece of the infamous Juniper Park Civic Association, the unelected private group in Middle Village Queens who is currently suing the Parks dept with the aim to end the successful 20-year policy of Offleash Hours.

If this discussion group is anything like Citybirder's blog, it will be riddled with incorrect information, half truths, and willful distortions of facts.

For more information about the 20-year Parks policy of Offleash Hours, visit www.nycoffleash.com
  • Subject: Successful 20-year Off-leash Hours policy legal victories

Well, it looks like all the nonesense about the Off-leash Hours being "illegal" was, at the end of the day, completely wrong, and just so much misinformation and wishful thinking by the fringe anti-offleash jihadists.

You can read NYS Supreme Court Justic Peter J. Kelly's ruling here: http://www.nycoffleash.com/html/files/Decision.pdf

To further eliminate the possibility of other specious and frivilous lawsuits in the future, the NYC Health Board unanimously amended the Health Code to eliminate any chance for the anti-offleash contingent to continue to claim this policy is not legal. Info can be found here: http://www.nycoffleash.com/html/threat.htm

See y'all in the park! :-)
