dumbest asian guy alive!
Kids brought liquor with fake id. Idiot guy took a plea for selling liquor to kids with fake id lol. I would of sue the damn town so fast their kids would be paying for it. the parents and community wanted to blame someone and idiot clerk got blamed.
JEFFERSON COUNTY – A 25-year-old liquor store clerk was sentenced to 18 months of probation and short-term house arrest for selling rum to a minor who died later that night.
Loc Truong of Denver had been charged with providing alcohol to a minor for selling Paul Ondrish rum at the Marina Pointe liquor store in Littleton on July 12, 2006.
Ondrish, who was only 20 years old, bought rum from Truong two different times that evening. Ondrish was using a fake ID.
A few hours later, Ondrish was in a fatal car accident. Both he and his 20-year-old friend, Brandon Nichols, were killed. Three other passengers, all of whom were 20 years old, were also injured.
Truong reached a plea deal with the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office that gives him 18 months of probation that begins with 120 days of in-home detention. He must also obtain a GED, not work in a liquor store, attend a Mothers Against Drunk Driving victim empathy panel and work 120 hours of public service in a trauma unit or similar facility.
The Ondrish and Brandon families had wanted the stiffest penalty for Truong.
Truong was also fined $1,000 and assessed $536 in initial fees.
He will be in court again on September 11.

Liquor clerk's plea comforts parents of crash victims
So, the ID wasn't even fake. It was his older brother's real ID. The guy was 20. I'm assuming that he looked like his brother, and that his brother wasn't too much older than him. Not sure how the clerk could have caught that one. The only issue I see here for the clerk is that the ID was expired. I'm thinking total scapegoat.

LITTLETON - It's almost a year since Paul Ondrish and Brandon Nichols, both 20, died in a car accident after drinking, and their parents are still grieving.
"If our boys knew, they would be horrified by what we've been going through," said Amy Nichols, 44, Brandon's mother.
But the families received some comfort Thursday when they learned that Loc Truong, 24, the liquor store clerk who sold rum to Paul Ondrish the night of the July accident, pleaded guilty April 9 to providing liquor to a minor. He will be sentenced June 22.
"We're glad that it's a guilty plea and not a plea bargain," said Frank Ondrish, 49, Paul's father. "By pleading guilty to the charge, he's giving us a result that is right and just without having to go through a trial."
Ondrish said the plea also sends a message.
"The community (should be able to) count on store clerks to do what they (are) supposed to do" by checking IDs, he said.
On the night of July 13, Paul Ondrish went to the Marina Pointe Liquors store to buy rum using his older brother's expired Michigan license. Truong sold Ondrish rum twice that night even though he saw the ID was not valid, said Patti Ondrish, 43, Paul's mother.
The accident occurred later that night, when Ondrish lost control of his car on Highgrade Road in Jefferson County. It hit a guardrail and rolled, ejecting Ondrish and Nichols, his passenger. Neither was wearing his seat belt.
"It was a tragic combination of bad choices," Amy Nichols said. "Like many young people, they thought, 'It won't happen to me.' "
Since the tragedy, the two families have set up the Brandon and Paul Foundation, which supports education programs such as the Colorado State Patrol's "Alive at 25," which encourages young people to make good decisions about alcohol, drugs and driving.
"If we can help one young adult make better decisions, then it's worth the effort," Patti Ondrish said. "We don't want other families to go through what we had to go through."
Both families plan to mark the anniversary of their sons' deaths July 13 by hosting a golf tournament fundraiser at Homestead Golf Course in Lakewood. For information, call the Ondrish family at 303-946-7292. -
BTW, I don't think this has _anything_ to do with the guy or family being Asian, if anything, this is a uniquely American reaction that seems to cut across _all_ races.
FWIW. -
Our court system sucks. Poor store clerk.
-
See, that's the part I hate about my job! We get zero training on how to spot fake ID's but if I'm not sure I get one of my coworkers to take a look too. I would rather refuse to sell to someone and have them pitch a fit than sell to a minor. And do you think I know what licenses from every state look like? Of course not. And if I sell to someone under 21? I get fined and could get community service as well. I'll bet you anything this clerk was given as much training as I was given. What bullshit.

I mean if he wasn't asian i'm sure he'll fight the system. alot of asians i know wouldn't fight the government. if they were charge with something they would just take it.

FYI--The ID was expired in 2005, out of state and stated UNDER 21 on the ID..I don't see a scapegoat I see someone not to bright

Reference for this information? Although it doesn't matter all that much.
"UNDER 21" on the license doesn't matter, since they go by birth date. I haven't seen anything that states that the ID did NOT show the person do be over 21.
Expired has already been mentioned, does the fact that the ID was expired make it any less valid as a proof of birth date? Obviously, it would make it less than useful for _driving_ purposes. I am unaware of local laws there.
And out of state, well, so what? Are you saying that if I go to New Jersey I can't buy alcohol there because I have a New York ID? That doesn't make any sense. -
First of all...what the F**K does race have to do with it?
armchair_warrior has to be THE dumbest person alive on this forum if he thinks race has something to do with the clerk's intelligence."The community (should be able to) count on store clerks to do what they (are) supposed to do" by checking IDs, he said.
Secondly, great responsible parenting. If anything the community should be able to count on PARENTS to educate their children properly about the perils of drinking and driving as well as about the consequences of drinking while still a minor. The accident occurred later that night, when Ondrish lost control of his car on Highgrade Road in Jefferson County. It hit a guardrail and rolled, ejecting Ondrish and Nichols, his passenger. Neither was wearing his seat belt.
Yup, it was ALL the clerk's fault. Heck he probably told them as they were heading out the door "Make sure you don't wear your seatbelts".Since the tragedy, the two families have set up the Brandon and Paul Foundation, which supports education programs such as the Colorado State Patrol's "Alive at 25," which encourages young people to make good decisions about alcohol, drugs and driving.
Sounds to me like they didn't do a very good job of helping their own children make better decisions. What sort of consequences does the older brother face for allowing his younger brother to use his expired ID?

Anyone want to make a bet that there will be beer served on the golf course during this fundraiser?. -
I am sure this poor guys feels guilty that he had a SMALL hand in these kids death, who should really be paying up, the dead kid, his friend that was drunk driving with him, and the brother if he gave his id to the younger brother!
Race has nothing to do with this! I feel bad for the clerk, yeah he should NOT have sold the rum to a person he knew that was drinking and driving, but the responsibility for him to go outside, see if the kids was drinking and driving, and calling a police report in should NOT have to fall on store clerks, bartenders or other servers. -
Subject: My 2 Cents
First Let me say this. A liquor store owner as part of his liscensing is given a hand book that describes what type of ID's not to accept. It is the obligation for the owner to train their employees for follow these guildelines according the law.
In this case, there was dispute on if an ID was even asked for. However due to circumstances which I won't go into the Judge ruled that yes in fact the ID was presented. It was to the clerks advantage that the Judge ruled on this because the sentence may have been more severe otherwise. The guidleline is to not accept an expired liscense, because an expired liscense is considered invalild. Secondly it was out of state and clearly marked with a punch hole and clearly stated UNDER 21. These are all things that are spelling out. In additional to that this boy doesn't look like his brother. The brother in this case did not give this ID to be used for this purpose.
Regardless of what the family in Colorado says, this boy has family outside of Colorado that doesn't not agree with the whole thing. The STATE brought on the charges to make an example to hold the Liquor Store Owner more responsible, thus operating under the terms and obligations of his Liquor Liscense. There is little the state can do with "Fake" ID's although they are actively going after people who produce them.
I feel bad for Troung, but he did get the minimal sentence. Maybe he just wasn't properly trained by his boss.
I can tell you for a fact that Paul Ondrish wasn't just a screw up kid. The lesson here is kids need to be educated on the fact that it just takes one time to make a mistake. Unfortunately the real screw up's live.
Sad as the whole thing is, I am very sure that other liquor store owners and clerks with take a closer look at ID's. Which is what they should be doing. It's not sole responsiblity on them, it's just playing their part in a group effort to do what we can to help young kids get past very difficult years in our society. -

you really dont know asians, its a cultural thing you'll never understand and i wont explain to you.

suicided is higher in asians, besides the virginia tech thing. asians rather harm themselves and set them selves on fire than riot.
we are stereotyping here. its mostly a cultural thing.
I'm sure the clerk blame himself instead of the kid who did the stupid thing.
his parents like typical stereotypical american love to blame other people instead of their own kid for his own stupidity. -
My ex-fiance was Asian and he'd beat the shit out of you as much as look at you. So generalizations are stupid.
(He used to complain about coming to my house because he would always get into fights on the subway. When I pointed out that the problem was *him* because in ten years I never got into a fight nor did anyone else I know get into a fight, surprise, surprise, the fights stopped.)
Did the liquor store OWNER get punished for so poorly training his employee?
When I was a kid, my parents made it clear that the ultimate crime in their eyes was drinking and driving, or getting into a car with someone who had been drinking. I was only allowed to drive if I promised that I would not drink. And if I planned to drink, my parents would drop me off at the party and pick me up at whatever hour, no questions asked. They much preferred a drunk daughter to a dead one. And because I was never punished for drinking, I NEVER EVER broke that rule!
(I also submit that because I was never punished for drinking, drinking quickly lost its allure because it wasn't forbidden. In college, when people went to get shit-faced, I was like, "Why?") -
The thread title does clearly show racist feelings towards Asians; as to what extent only AW knows. I seen this thread when I registered here, but chose to let it go, but it’s a nice Sunday today, so lemme post my feelings.
One of the news article headline is “Liquor Store Clerk Sentenced for Providing Liquor to Minor, Resulting in Double Traffic Fatalityâ€. Another title says “Littleton Liquor Store Clerk Faces Sentencingâ€. And another title says “Home detention for liquor clerk in two Jeffco DUI deathsâ€. None of the titles mentions Asian in the title.
I am Asian. I think he could have left the race thing out of the thread. A clerk is a clerk is a clerk (yes I typed that 3 X's.) What's race got to do with anything here?
Maybe AW is actually right about Asians rather harming themselves than riot, but I don't wanna argue about percentages/statistics. We all know there are plenty of Asian gangbangers. I for one would hurt someone (not myself) in a minute if I felt you deserved it. Yes, Loc Truong was of course wrong, but it is not an Asian thing to sell liquor to minors.
PS. Concerning AW's moving biz, I would feel hesitation about using his service, now that I know more about him. Don't get me wrong. I don't deem him evil. Everyone has their faults, but you know what I'm, saying. -
Well, part of the reason why my ex-fiance got to be a such a bad-ass was the perception that Asians did not fight back. It also didn't help that he was fat. So he took martial arts and when a kid picked on him, he'd break their arm. And the teachers would be like, "That should teach you. Don't pick on the fat kid."
Not all Asians (I know very few, in fact) are meek and self-harming. Ever seen a kung fu movie?
