What's going to go into that Dagastino's space on 7th ave?
Subject: What's going to go into that Dagastino's space on 7th ave?
This was probably already posted but I can't find it anywhere in my quick 1 second search, buuuutttDoes anyone know what's going to go into that Dagastino's on 7th ave that recently closed? I went there on occasion 'cause it is close to my place, but I hated it for a bunch of silly reasons.
Anyway, I'm hoping a newer, cooler, tastier grocery store will go in. I fear it will just be another chase bank though.

a newer cooler Chase Bank
-
Actually, it IS a bank - a Bank of America bank....
-
Definitely not cool ... but in prime position to take all cash of those who work at Methodist ...
-
man, really? another bank! great. that sucks.
-
Wait, doesn't Bank of America already operate on 7th and Union?

But we really need 1 bank per block. It would be terrible to have to walk more than 5 minutes you know! -

As well as a kiosk on 5th Ave and 14th St, and a kiosk at 7th Ave and 9th St. But really, we desperately need a BofA branch on 7th Ave in addition to the 2 kiosks and the branch on 5th Ave. Uh huh. Riiight... -
I would love to have one closer to or in Prospect Heights.

The BoA on 5th and 11th is kinda crappy, not visually, but the cust. service could be better. I wish they'd get rid of the 2 ATM's and place a full service bank maybe on Atlantic or Flatbush for those on the other end of the slope. -
i was praying for a Trader Joes .........that would have been kinda great.

I just walked past the building formally known as Dagastino's. There was a sign in the window saying "Retail Space Available (4,000 sq ft)." Do you think they would bother with the sign if it was definitely going to be a bank? Maybe it will be something else [-o<

Praise the Lord!!
Let it not be a bank!! -
if we come up with a list of places that people suggest might be of use to the neighborhood, i'm happy to contact them and see if they want to check out the space.
i've already contacted trader joe's and that spot is not large enough i'm sad to say.
what else would be great to have? i'm afraid that because of the rather large 4000 square feet that our options might be fairly limited and i'm sure the rent is through the roof so keep this in mind when making suggestions.
i personally would love to see a full service plant/garden type place, but not sure how practical that is. just thinking aloud here...
what about a housing works? you know the thrift store? they just opened one up on montague in brooklyn heights. think they'd do well by 7th avenue? -
Chipotle. Somebody, let's make hand over fist and open a Chipotle together in that space!
-
i know that ricky's is always looking for new spaces.

!Dios mio! You might as well put a McDeez there.
Chipotle sucks and it's a total rip off. Waaay to pricey $$$ for crap burritos.
I'd rather have a Taco Bell there. At least they're cheap and I know I paying for exactly what I'm getting.
Holla! 7 layer burrito yo!
Actually, if we're talking about fast food, I want a Jack in the Box there. -
don't be knocking those carnitas burritos, mama. 2 meals' worth of naturally-raised piggie, for the nature-minded piggie in you!
-
I seriously don't understand how banks make a profit by renting so much commercial sense. It doesn't seem to make sense anymore especially as most people do a lot of banking on line.
-
I heard it's not going to be a bank anymore but doctors offices most likely connected to The Methodist.
-
great, more crapified doctors

I miss the Orwasher's cinnamon raisin bread Dag used to carry. I know Garden of Eden carries it too. -
garden of eden. that's a great idea actually. although sounds like there might be doctors offices, but it's worth a shot for somewhere else.
i heard a horrible (well i think horrible) rumor that mcdonalds was interested in 7th avenue!!
they are opening one on smith street, if you haven't already heard...
