THINKING ABOUT MOVING TO BROOKLYN — Brooklynian

THINKING ABOUT MOVING TO BROOKLYN

I am thinking about moving to Brooklyn. I saw an ad for an apartment near Bedford Avenue and Park Place. I am a life long Queens residence. Any ideas about that area? How's the commute into Manhattan?

  • We live in PLG and like it. I don't know Queens so I couldn't compare. But the commute is way better from here than it was for us in Park Slope.
  • where in queens were you living before? (near what train lines?)
  • This is in Crown Heights. The area is fine if you are used to urban living. We have lived three blocks south/east of where you are moving for a year and a half and really like the neighborhood. But any yuppy amenities you are looking for are slowly trickling in. You are very near Prospect Heights, which has more sit-down restaurants, bars and upscale coffee shops.

That said, there are plenty of grocery stores, laundromats and delis in the area.

The commute is very easy. You are a block from Franklin Ave, which has the 2,3 and 4,5 lines.
