  • Sounds like Bushwick to me....

If it is I say hold on for the ride....the hood will look very little like it does now within 5 years. if you can get in cheap now you won't regret it.
  • good call.

my very first apartment was five years ago in bushwick on hart and wyckoff (how things came full circle!) but i was traumatized living there. it was totally deserted (all industrial/lofts), i got harassed all the time blah blah

now i will be living just south of broadway technically in bed-stuy but close to bushwick and i gotta say, the price is right. my room is only 575 and you really can't beat that. except for folks i know paying 400 but that is a different story.

anwyay, if you know about what the immediate area is like -- particularly parks, amenities, that stuff i would definitely appreciate it.
  • there's tons of shops and restaurants all up and down broadway.
  • goodbye blue monday is a couple blocks away, you will definitely want to check that place out. there's also a pet store nearby. i don't know much about things on the bedstuy side of broadway but from the train the area around stuyvesant and vernon look preety nice!
  • yes goodbye blue monday is an awesome bar! last time i was there they had $1 PBRs and there was a free show. bands were decent, but beer was cheap. and i bought an old Nikon camera from a homeless guy for $3, and it effi' works!
  • yeah ive been to goodbye blue monday. it is lovely.

where is this pet store, though?
    thanks!
  • rtrain, that homeless guy is the owner!

BL, the pet shop is between dekalb and kosciusko:

    petsahoypluscorp.com

pretty good for a smaller pet shop tho i wish they didn't have puppies and kittens in the window.

haha are you sure? cause he was kinda just wandering around. and he looked way too stoked when i gave him $3 (and a cigarette, he said he was nickin') for someone who owns a bar. and he scurried quickly away down Broadway. If he is the owner, he lives modestly haha.
  • GBM is my new bar of choice. I would be there every night if I wasn't married and slightly responsible.
