Book Nerd seeks Coffee Geek / Wine Snob
I've worked in NYC independent bookstores for about 7 years, and I'm working toward opening my own bookstore in Brooklyn (I've posted about it on the boards before). I'm totally nerdy in my passion for books and local, independent businesses -- I've found my calling and embraced my enthusiasm.
The bookstore of my dreams would have a good sized wine/espresso bar and events space for author events, forums, and just reading and working in the off hours. I'm hoping to find someone to run that side of things whose passion for all the bean and/or the grape are as great as my passion for the written word.
I know you're out there -- coffee geek culture and happy wine snobbery totally exist in Brooklyn, and make for some seriously talented and passionate individuals. Maybe you've been working in a coffee shop, bar, or restaurant for a while, and you've got ideas of your own about how things could be done well. Maybe you've got contacts in the business you'd love to work with. Maybe you're a literary type as well and could get excited about a new space for Brooklyn literary and culinary adventures. If you're interested in talking about working for me or even partnering in this venture, drop me an email. I look forward to geekin' out with you.

What a coincidence, just noticed that the owners of Freebird in the Columbia Street Waterfront District have apparently posted it for sale on Craig;s List:
BOOKSTORE W/ BAR/CAFE - $45000
http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/bfs/371749487.html
Dunno where you might be looking to run a store, but on the bright side, Freebird already has an established name and a great vibe.
Their website is http://freebirdbooks.com
Good luck with with whatever you opt to do.
Howdy, Stranger!
