A little change of pace...
After reading all of the recent posts on guns, gunshots, muggings, etc. I'm a little bummed about this board. Not because we don't need to discuss it (because we do), but because that's ALL we've been talking about since the parade.
So, in the interest of keeping my spirits up I thought that we should start talking about some uplifiting things that are happening in our community. Anyone know of any cool, quirky, interesting, or otherwise important stuff happening here? Any of the local churches having a bake sale, a dinner cruise, or a yoga class for seniors? Any schools looking for volunteers? Businesses looking for patrons? Bars looking for drunks?
C'mon people bring it on. I'm sure that with all the folks (not the Chi town version) that are in the know around here there has to be something else worth talking about.

i think i heard gunshots in this post.
*posts about it* -
Come on young snitch, at least one of your neighbors must be having loud relations. (After all, they're doing it in PS and PH and according to those boards, often and loudly). No stories of Girlz Gone Wild on Franklin?

I couldn't agree more with homeowner. This board is getting a little single minded. I really appreciate how it is being used as a community organizing tool but I wish we could talk about something, anything, else.
So, here's my effort. Make sure to check out the Chile Pepper Festival at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden this weekend. Looks like they've got a great line up of music etc:

And, for what it's worth, I love living in CH, love my neighbors, and am finding this neighborhood a wonderful and supportive place to raise my kid. -
thanks for the chile fesitval info!

The site is good for restuarant reviews too, although they don't have a dedicated Crown Heights section (which I've e-mailed them about, and you should too).

You're right. I think we get a bad rap on the other boards because of it. But let's talk about something else. Some suggestions....

I've passed by. How is it inside? -
This is a great incubator thread... the ideas are flowing! I spun off a few posts as separate topics to encourage more discussion.
Those posts are now located here: Jerk Salmon at Cafe 400
